Downloading now - so cant say how good it is yet. It has pirates in it, so i am guessing good.

Ohhh...I signed up for a key. Just what I was looking for to play over Christmas. Thanks.

Played the beta, didn't care much for the game. Avatar combat may be the worst ever made. Ship battles are instanced. Ok game but no Aces High.

Anyone that likes the Korean Game Navy Field will like Pirates.
It's too repetitive for me.

GROAN...5 gb download to start with, then you have to patch.
I'll wait until they release this.

That's the norm now. EQ2 was a 7 gig download at one time. I think that games at 10 or 11 now.

Since it's only a beta and things are always changing but so far the game isn't all that good, especially for one that has such a long development time. The land based combat sucks and really needs drastic improvement and really offers nothing new. Click on target, spam abilities, rinse and repeat.
Ship combat though is a little better but has been drastically altered since the game went into beta. But that was a game play concession to make it a little more accessible for players that don't know how to sail (in the original design, ship combat is pretty much like a sailing simulator). Though it hasn't been dumbed down to the point like land combat and still requires good tactical maneuvering.
Graphics...even on a high end system, it's nothing to write home about but again, that is a game play concession though the water looks really nice.
I don't think it will tank like Gods and Hero's and will actually see the light of day but it's not going to set the world on fire as the "WoW killer" or even come close. It's very similiar in terms of game play to the old Sea Dogs game.

This game will be dead in a year, like their first MMOG Auto Assualt. There's no variety , couple hours and you've done everything.

Pirates of the Burning Seas is not a NCSoft game nor did the developers. It's part of the SOE Platform Publishing line of MMO games.
Flying Lab Software is developing Pirates of the Burning Seas while NetDevil developed Auto Assault for NCSoft.

NetDevil also developed JUMPGATE
another MMO vaporware.

Hmmm... AFAIK, the term "vaporware" means it was never released.
JumpGate was released. Hell, I had subscription to it for close to a year.

I played the closed beta. It was ok, but didn't make me want to spend alot of time on it.
