Kind of neat, but one has to wonder what would happen if you were t-boned...I'm thinking along the lines of structural integrity.

I don't see how it would be any less able to withstand an impact then the current doors.

""No matter where you are, whether you are visiting your club, grocery store, gas station, or restaurant, your drivable work of art will be appreciated and admired. When you pull up next to other high end cars, yours will render them boring by comparison! ""

FLIPPIN SWEET!

Seriously I don't know how many times a door on a hing has caused me to drop somthing or bang my head or what not!

Too bad it'd be impractical for my Jeep!

Took too long to get to the action, I closed it after the first 15 seconds of watching a car pull up.

Your short attention span makes you the PERFECT market for this product!  Yes, my friend, all those extra seconds spent opening and closing doors will be a thing of the past when you use this fine product!

But seriously, it's a near technology.  I've wondered what the cost of installing it is.  Probably somewhat prohibitive.

Yeah, and wait until the first time a relay or a door motor burns' out. Fixing that will be a *****. Especially if it's down(open) at the time.

Bet those will be a lot of fun in the snow and slush, or during mud season...

Very cool.

Issues though:

-What kind of emergency access does the door have? If the car is in a collision, how would rescue teams be able to open or 'cut' the door out?

-If the door's motor fails.. get out through the window? Though probably it will have some kind of manual release so you can slide it down yourself.

All of these same concerns apply to electric windows, anti-lock brakes, electric windshield wipers, etc, but they seem to have become moderately popular.
