I suppose our US Ambassador here....his name is Gregory Slayton.
What a GREAT guy!
You guys should be proud of him.
I was having some trouble with US customs in New Jersey, who had pulled a container of clothing, school supplies and medical equipment our Rotary Club was sending to Bihar, India.
Customs charged us $407 for the priviledge of being searched...which is fine...but as a result our container missed its ship to Calcutta. Two weeks ago the demurrage charge for bonded storage was at $1,450 and counting.
I called a lawyer friend of mine who I knew was friends with Mr. Slayton. Within 5 minutes Mr. Slayton agreed to help. Within an hour the shipping company wrote to Mr. Slayton (cc'ing me on the email) and told him that they had picked up the charges.
I was amazed at the sudden generosity of this company.
I happened to be at a Christmas function that Mr. Slayton was attending also and went up and introduced myself. I discovered that he had called some agency who contacted the shipping company to find out what was going on. Aparently that agency is absolutely VITAL to the shipping company and they immediately made the offer to look good to them.
Bada bing. Done and dusted.
"If you need any help with anything like that in the future you call me"...and he handed me his card.
Definately a guy who gets s*it done.
USA USA!

He's republican, was a big campaign organizer for Bush in 2000 and 2004, and is a devote Christian. Just thought I'd ruin your happiness with that info. :D
