NEW ORLEANS - Members of the Congressional Black Caucus called on Gov. Kathleen Blanco to pardon Mychal Bell and five other teenagers known as the "Jena 6."
As a blackman, stuff like this pisses me off. If this would have been 6 white boys who beat up one of our kids, Jackson and Sharpton would have been down here demanding the death penalty or something ridiculous like that.

Change begins with a single person, and you my friend, have the right attitude. to you.

This whole thing just baffles me. :huh
-
well here's some tips for all involved:
don't put nooses up in a tree to scare someone off, someone will want to kick your ass. simple cause and effect.
don't beat a kid up over something stupid, you'll get in trouble. simple cause and effect.
I would have kicked the crap outta the kid that did it and taken the punishment if caught, he deserved it. now personally, i'd probably concealed my identity but whatever.

Trick is the kid they beat up had nothing to do with the nooses, just a random white kid.

I know I don't pull this card much but...
As a Black man I'm embarrassed at what is happening.
It's time the Black community pulled itself up by its own bootstraps and held each other accountable for their own actions.
We don't need excuses or exceptions when we fail.
And we don't need special consideration to succeed.
But we do need pride (and I'm not talking about some 'African' religious holiday invented by a felon in Cali during the 70s) and accountability. And this pride and accountability must be derived from the Black community and its actions.

Ever wonder how it makes us white guys feel?

*Takes Bait*
How does it make you feel Dago?
-
If the black kids who beat up the white kid would sincerely apologize, let 'em off the hook. Kids do stupid things and if there's no permanent damage and they learn a lesson, why inflict further damage?

they learned a lesson alright, that they can do anything they want and the black community (sharpton, jackson, et all) will come and bail them out.
some lesson.

Are you serious?
If so, can I come over to your house with a couple friends and beat you until you require hospitalization and minor surgery? I promise I'll apologize later if that means I won't get in trouble.
:huh
-
I may be mistaken but I think the kid that was beaten suffered nothing more than bruises not requiring hospitilization. If there was more lasting injury then I'm full of manure and/or under the influence of celebrating the end of a long work week looking forward to a 4 day weekend.
-
only had some bruises, well maybe next time they can do a better job.
and there will be a next time.

Ya know, 50 years ago...

What about the kid that is a repeat offender? How many apologies is he allowed... til he kills someone?

wasn't there a thread that went over this quite a bit, maybe a few?

When things are seen from a perspective of "Black & White" You have already lost. When a society can evolve based upon it's collective merits, Human beings will begin to see their true potential. Politically correct and affirmative action is just racism in a pretty box with nice wrapping.
-
Perhaps I was feeling too generous last night while gladly remembering I wasn't punished for every wrong or stupid thing I did in my youth. I don't know all the facts and I'm pretty sure no one else here does either. I wish we could trust the justice system to be fair in this but I'm not sure of that either.
-
Google up Jason Whitlock and Jena 6. He's the only columnist I know that has really researched this thing and tried to lay it out truthfully as it happened. Many of the perceptions about the incident are incorrect.

I wont dare to hope for this in my lifetime.
