I know TruBo posted this, way back in 2002. But I was trying out the filmviewer and figured I'd try it. What can I say, I try to think OUTSIDE the box. Took me three tries to get it launched. Two tries to land, first landing just resulted in crushed gear. But hey, I was on the deck! Sorry the audio dissapeared somewhere in the conversion from ahf to avi.

Ah, also forgot to mention this was my first attempt at making a video using the AHII filmviewer. I'll be reading the boards to learn more about it.

Thats nothing new.You can land anything on a CV and take back off of it.
-
Ok, yeah, you can prolly LAND anything onto a CV. But takeoff FROM a CV with anything Vans? Hmmm.. havent tried the B-17 or Lanc or ect. Big buffs wings, don't think they'll clear the deck constructs.
-
Anything? Cut the guys some slack vans......He when thru a lot of perks;)

Ok ill give you lanks no,but 17's you can,it depends on how you land, you need to land near the edge of the ship.If im bord ill do it and film it.It is possible ive done it and ive seen others doing it.

Ive got 17's off the deck before. Never tried lancasters.

Landing on a deacked CV and vulching it is always amusing.

I tried vulching a CV the other day. It was deacked with only 1 support ship left and they were still upping in droves. So I figure what the heck.
Went in for the vulch run and shot a guy on the pad and started in on a guy whom was just about to take off. Then he hits the side of the CV and the plane jumps up in the air 20 ft it seemed and collides with me.
:cry

You can get a lanc on deck just have to be well left of center.

You can do it with Lancs, just stay to the left and keep your left gear on the outter white line... I have seen a squad mate do it. Have film of him rearming and rolling as well with the load-out being 25% fuel and 14k in eggs...:D
-
I've landed a lanscaster on a CV before but didn't try to take back off with it.
-
Yeah unless u dnt re arm i don't think you'd get off. Way to much weight.
-
I have landed a lanc on CV, rearmed, and took back off.
-
Try that with a 234.

turn the ship into the wind....;)

You can launch anything off of a cv. I've probably tried everything that people would have doubt about. C-47s, Lanc, B17s, B24s, Stukas (w/ 1800kg bomb)Ar234s, Ju88s, 262s, 163s, I miss anything?

lancs 17s 234s 24s 26s Bostons all of them can come off the CV its just a matter of how good you are. i have only been able to get 24s 26s and bostons back off the CV Lancs and 17s no good for me but i have seen it done.

Back in the day when I played in H2H me and some people did a lot of goofing around. Able to take off a CV in anything and land anything on a CV. I even managed to land a B5N on a Destroyer and take off again.

a b5n takes off on near idle engine power lol... hell if u have a "realistic" (<30mph) wind set and sail into it the plane can "fly" with the engine off.....
-
i used to have a pic of a guy (Pannono) landing a rv8 on the 8" gun turret on the cruiser and me landing a Jug on a cruiser(not intact) but they were deleted.
-
ahh i remember that lol i think i have that pic still ill check for u

Back in Mac AW the thing to do was land a b17 on the top of the Tower. Never saw it done, but apparently someone had done it once. Maybe before the platform switch to pc/mac. I sure spent hours trying it though! How boring. lol
-
Of course you can take off anything from a cv. Just go to arena settings on offline practice and turn the wind all the way up and make it blow toward you on the cv. You like hover and the cv goes under you.
-
S!
landed all three arados on a cv but both drones rolled back into the sea. not tried to take off..........yet. :D

Yes they will... you have to swing out left a bit.

Just yesterday during my early morning hours was flying a 2-pick-2 around by A40 in the orange main arena (was a bish base) anyhow after 8 kills I noticed a tempest trying to catch me (lol not gona happen)
I did manage to find a nice CV out in middle of no where, and landed on it, and rearmed without a problem. <--easier said then done
Takes plenty of practice and im no expert landing jets on CV's my first attempt few days ago crashed on CV, interestingly enough I landed just fine, but I got thrown 50 feet in air and died, have no idea what caused this because I dropped the 262 on the deck doing least 100 or 120, first few rolls was fine, then got thrown upward.
Oh yeah, taking off wasn't so fun, full fuel and ammo I took off with 2 notch flaps down and didn't clear the Cruiser, oops?
-
Taking a Lanc off of a CV is quite simple for me. And that's with the maximum payload too.
-
A long time ago, when I used to fly with Dickweed Heavy Bomber Group, we were flying 262s. The base we were going to land at came under attack, and we were all very low on fuel. So we decided to land our 262s on the CV. Some of us made it, some didn't. But since then, I've practiced landing the 262 on the CV, and practiced taking off from the CV. Its definately doable.
Come in with full flaps, between 100 and 140 mph. The slower the better (but don't get behind the power curve!!). As soon as you touch down, idle or shutoff your engines, then start moving your rudder left and right repeatedly. This slows you down quicker.
Visibility is horrible with such a nose high angle of attack landing on cv, so I move to the forward right part of the cockpit, and watch the carriers superstructure through the small forward-right window.
Taking off requires backing up on the carrier to the arresting wires. I deploy full flaps. Make sure you have your nose at a high angle of attack when you go off the end of the carrier. The 262 will fall but ground-effect saves it.

This remind me of a Monty Python sketch...
"You call that a landing... when I were a lad..." :lol

The real question is..............can you do all of this if the CV is on a treadmill?

I did that the other day with a hog. I made it onto the cruiser completely but still got a ditch when I towered. WAHHHHH!!!! :cry

LOL. Where are Jamie and Adam when you need them.
-
i use to rearm 262s on cvs :)
-
it's possible to get ANYTHING on and off the CV, even a 100% fuel and full bomb load lanc (although that is most definitely the hardest one to get off)
234's are good fun :)
-
You can get any plane off a cv off line if you mess with wind. Gvs another matter.
