Post by: WOOD1 on December 23, 2007, 07:29:19 PM: How do I shoot through buildings and mountains like a lot of other people do? I can't shoot through hangers or mountains but lots of other people have no problem doing it, what is the trick to it?

The trick is: They don't. Many people believe this because they see enemy shots go through an object. But that's not actually the case. Only your own shots are rendered very precicely on your machine, no you enemies. If they just lob a shell over an obstacle, I might indeed many a times seem that the shell is going through it.
Next time you see an enemy Ostwind taking down a town, watch his shell. Many of them will seem to go through buildings exiting on other side of town, yet they do explode.

Post by: WOOD1 on December 23, 2007, 07:43:02 PM: I don't buy it...sorry, I've checked my outside view from the tower and the guy had to shoot through buildings to get me. Today I was in a hanger and the guy was on the side of the hanger, not in front or back, and he shot me through the wall.

And you don't need to buy anything.. the things I wrote that way is happening and the source of 99% of all "he shot through XXX" whines.

... we only have a chance to determine if it's indeed the case (and not just another unfounded claim/whine), if we see a film.

Well, I've heard roumors that in a GV if you turn down your graphics low enough, it gets rid of trees and stuff like that but not sure if it's true, and if it is, I doubt it takes out hangers and stuff...

The only way you could shoot through a hanger is if it were a FH or BH and you shot through the opening which can be done (also flown through if that guy behind you is tailing a bit too close :aok )but from my experiances and other stuff, it can't be done, as lusche said, you can shoot OVER them though.

Post by: Blammo on January 02, 2008, 08:20:09 AM: Wood: the next time it happens, ask the guy that shot you if they were looking shot through a wall or hill. Seriously, ask them what they saw. If you ask enough people an get the same sort of answer, you can trust the responses.

I used to think people were doing something "questionable"to get these kind of shots but so far I have found that it depends really on what they are seeing on their end. Remember, damage is applied based on what the FE of the attacker (firing player) sees. If they saw you clearly and saw their shot impact, it does not matter if you could see them clearly or not. It might suck, but it works that way for everyone.
