It has to do with bombing Panzers. I've said that a ton of times and you pretty much said it in your first post. I think it might have to do with a P-51 being in the area too. I don't remember.

It happens even without any panzer or P51. I get it regulary when hitting M-8 turrets, regardless of being in M8, Panzer or Sherman myself.

I'm pretty sure that everyone in the area of a bombed Panzer where this happens will recieve the message.

I never got that message unless I was the one hitting an enemy GV (which, as stated above, does not necessarily has to be a Panzer)

There's a typo somewhere that no one can find, apparently.

The same thing has happened to me on several occasions when bombing a panzer.  These posts have revealed a necessity for HTC to look into a fix for this problem.

i am sure HTC is working on the problem. have you submited a film so they can see how it happens. might be helpful for them to see it when it happens. :aok

i know i will if i ever remember to film my A20 runs

I've apparently been around longer than you; keep your insults to yourself, thanks.

As was stated before, it's a bug with a known cause. They must have some reason for not fixing it yet.
Title: Invalid Component 0
Post by: hubsonfire on January 08, 2008, 10:00:28 PM
the known cause is a typo in the code that apparently no one can find, which would presumably be why it isn't fixed after several years.

So have I. Are we really going to get into something like that (read: hijack a thread  )?
Title: Invalid Component 0
Post by: bongaroo on January 10, 2008, 12:58:52 PM
happened to me the first time a couple days ago when bombing a panzer in a b25h
Title: Invalid Component 0
Post by: BiPoLaR on January 10, 2008, 04:40:53 PM
Is it a lag issue?
Title: Invalid Component 0
Post by: BlackJack on January 11, 2008, 04:58:42 PM
It might be but when i was in M8 and got that I wasn't lagging at all. Maybe the game doesnt read the hit or the guy in the tank is lagging.
Title: Invalid Component 0
Post by: Lusche on January 11, 2008, 05:06:02 PM
No lag issue, because I get it almost guaranteed when hitting the M8 turret only. No other shot placement results in a "invalid component"
Title: Invalid Component 0
Post by: BlackJack on January 12, 2008, 08:46:33 AM
Maybe its just the game not reading the hit or something its been going on for long time, just has been increasing.

Search "invalid component" on the boards.
Title: Invalid Component 0
Post by: Banshee7 on January 12, 2008, 11:20:07 PM
I get it regularly when bombing all kinds of gv's in whatever plane.  Never got it in a tank vs tank though
Title: Invalid Component 0
Post by: obert on January 13, 2008, 06:09:09 AM
Got this 4 times yesterday when hitting the same M8, all shots hit the turret and got invalid component 0 then hit the body and it died so I assume it's something to do with the M8 turret as it happened again later when I bombed one. Hope that helps to find it, sorry I wasn't filming :(
Title: Invalid Component 0
Post by: OOZ662 on January 13, 2008, 03:45:31 PM
Since it's more than one GV, I wonder if it has to do with the penetration/deflection code. (Yes, it applies to bombs too; see famous picture of a lanc's 1kers bouncing off the motor of a Flak...)
Title: Invalid Component 0
Post by: BiPoLaR on January 13, 2008, 06:44:59 PM
i can tell you that ive heard bombs bounce off my tank before
Title: Invalid Component 0

Yeah BP I think kilz has screen shot of that. I forget who does though.

Ive been here for years... got 2 Invalid component 0 for the
FIRST time in an A-20 dropping 500lbs on panzers.

I might as well add my 2 cents...

Last year towards May or June, I had been getting the error quite frequently. It seemed to happen with air to air as well. Then it seem to have stopped. I hadn't noticed it in a while, but this past weekend it occured from a glide bomb attack from an A-20G on a panzer. It seemed like a direct hit. No film though...

What's the deal anyway?

Cheer:aok

In addition to my previous note. It seems that if you drop two rocks simulantously on the target, the kill is registered normally. This may definitely have some correlation to the success of future drops.

Cheers:aok
