Shopping around CPU's was wondering if anyone knew if AH even takes advantage of quad core, and if dual was the way to go. I know this horse has probably been beaten to death before, but just need a quick answer. Tks in advance!

ive got a q6600 (qud core) and AH dosent even make the cpu break a sweat. its great for other apps like film convertions as well. worh it in the long term.

It is not up to the application, it is up to the operating system. We are one of the few games around that is natively multi-threaded, but I think you will find Microsoft desktop OS's only allow one application to use no more than 2 cores at a time.

Hi Skuzzy,
Ifluff'n you don't mind, could you elaborate as to why MS chose this path to limit the abilities of it's mainstream OS in relation to hardware?
That doesn't make any sense to me outside of the thought of maintaining control over the HW suppliers.
What ye have to say?
:D

So no one application could dominate the CPU's. Plus they still have a lot of issues in thier thread manager.
Really, there would be so few applications which would benefit from using more than two CPU's it does make some sense.
