Was thinking about skinning Erv Ethell's "Tangerine", which I recall was a ordinary looking OD with printed noseart and no graphic. But a little web research revealed this late-J and L model painted as Erv's bird, with a nose graphic.

Is this an example of artistic license on the restoration? Or are is the noseart accurate, just should be on an earlier model 38?

Tangerine was a P38F
She went down with another pilot

I have a decal sheet for Tangerine for a 38 model not built.
Here's the direction sheet followed by the decals. Note the squadron codes for the 48th FS, 14th FG

Note that the restored bird has the yellow trim that apparently wasn't on the real Tangerine. it also lacks the squadron codes that were carried on Tangerine.

Ask and ye shall receive - thanks, Dan. Decals and everything!
I should ask - are we allowed to skin F's on the G model now? My skin forum search revealed a thread discussing this but the answer back then was no - skins must be only for the correct model of plane only.
I'd like to do the original Itsy Bitsy and Tangerine too, but neither of them are Gs. I have asked HTC about doing J-25s as Ls, but never got a response...

I believe so. Both Itsy Bitsy and Tangerine were being flown alongside G models.
