Title: Salutes

Would like to see it set up so you could right click on a name
in the roster and be able to send a salute. Save a lot of typing.

I personally think it'll be quicker typing .s unistrut than it ever will be going trough the roster.

I'd love to see an automatic feature which allows you to reply to a salute of another player much like the "xy wants to join" popup (including the ability to divert it to text buffer).
I've flow into the ground typing up someones name in a dogfight too many times now. :lol

Alot of guys don't return salutes... I have chastized my own squaddies whan they don't return them, as a common courtesy, because I dislike making the effort to type one, then not getting a return salute.

Do the noobs know about getting and giving  a ? When I salute a "vet", most often I get one back. It is a different story with some of the noobies.

What is the etiquette in the community for a salute anyway? Good fight? Taunting? I am curious, so could some of you "old Timers" enlighten me?

I initiate a salute for two reasons:

1. If I die and my opponent did something I consider exceptional, well skilled or kewl and out of the ordinary,

2. I die or win, and wish to simply say hello or acknowledge a pilot I know and respect.

I will not return a salute if:
If I died and I don't really know the other pilot, and I didn't do anything exceptional (except die gloriously), or otherwise don't know any reason I should get a salute.  I figure in that case it's just gloating on his part.

Otherwise, salutes should be return if only to acknowledge another cartoon plane aficianado.

I monitor 200 because I know folks on all sides. The 80th normally flies low number team.

Like a lot of other guys, I rarely tune to 200. There is just to much chatter and whining on it plus some people try to use it to insight arguments. My biggest problem with it is that you end up missing way to much useful country information thats trying to be posted and thats annoying.  A squadie of ours said DrDeath is worse than pop-ups and I have to agree when it comes to all of 200 because of the above reasons especially when it's misused.

I have ch200 tuned and I return all salutes as a matter of course - it's common courtesy. I will generally salute players I know and respect after a fight and I'll salute players I don't know who give me a good fight, regardless of the outcome.

Cheers,
