Post by: Bobby on December 27, 2007, 10:38:12 PM
Every time I have multiple kills in a spit 16 and go to land, it crashes the game hard and requires ctrl alt del to end it. I am not using skins. I am using the high resolution pak. HELP

are you using a custom sound pack? Might be a bad sound crashing your computer.

yes, I downloaded USRanger's sounds. Can I change an individual sound?

The question is: Does it happen EVERY time you land?

Oh, and I find a lot of those sound packs screw up more than they help. I would try restoring your original sounds directory and trying it again. I would guess it's some sort of wheel sound, or maybe the touchdown sound, or the brakes (if there is one), or the dirt kicking-up sound (I think there's one of those).

yes. delete the spit16 file from the sound folder, then copy the file from the original sound folder.

I'll watch it closer, but it seems always when I have 2 or more kills
Last night I remember I was trying to slow down and land quickly with multiple cons over base

I been using Sketchs soundpack for about 8 mos without a hitch.

A squadie of mine downloaded rangers sound pack, and everytime he lowered his landing gear, he'd get discoed. He uninstalled it and things are fine now.

I've installed Rangers sounds and have never had any problems what so ever. I would hate to not have his sounds in my game. You could just delete the Spit 16 sounds and replace it with another Spit, or combining two sound packs is a great way to go also.

Mitzus is a real good sound pack too.

Likewise, but for longer and also with other sounds.

I use a custom mix of sounds now and I've never had a problem with CTD.

I, too, have custom-mixed my sounds over the years.

Also, a lot of these sound problems are related to the sound card hardware itself, I'd guess.

If the on-board sound chip your squaddie is running has a hardware fault at some point in that sound file, it could trigger his disconnection, but your sound plays over your Sound Blaster Audigy (?) without problems.

See what I mean?

I've had a couple of bad sound files, and a couple of bad gunsights, over the years. Mostly the sounds just suck, I've been lucky with crashes and all that.

The solution seems simple to me.
Take the training wheels off and
stop flying Deebfir....errr I mean spitfires

:D

When I lowered my flaps on the spit 16 it did the same thing. I also have several custom sound pacs.  My problem turned out to be a duplicate sound file for my flaps. Deleted one of them and work fine now. Good luck with yours.
