Can the NY Giants pull it off tonight? They rallied really strong against Washington last week, and won going away. And they are playing at home tonight too.
The Patriots have absolutely nothing at all to gain by winning, except for team pride and going down in the history books. They are already guaranteed having the home field for the rest of the playoffs.
What do you think? Vegas is currently making the Patriots 14 point favorites.
Would you take that bet???

It all depends on who shows up. If Bill has enough points in the third quarter to let his first string sit out till the playoffs, 14 points might be a good spread to take the Giants.
-
If it will permanently quiet the '72 Dolphins I'm all for a Pats blow out. Hell I'll even take a last minute field goal for the win.
-
Even if they have kept saying that 16-0 isn't that big a deal I still think NE will start out with all regular starters tonight.
That record is actually giving NE more to play for than NYG, which can't really change their playoff route, win or lose.
All that said I've still bet on NYG with a 13.5 spread (at my usual betting site). More based on a hunch really.

I predict that Penn State will win.

Alas, I bet on the University of Oregon when they got to the #2 National ranking.
Now they will be playing a minor bowl game with their 4th string quarterback, one of their two star running backs still out, and the other one still not back to full health.

The Beavers did play an awesome game last night, didn't they???
I have a bad feeling that the same is not going to happen to the Ducks. They are developing quite a bad record in bowl games. While the Beavers are 4-0 for their recent Bowl game performances.

The Oregon State University has an engineering school. Beavers build dams.
What does a Gamecock or a Terrapin do?
Longhorns are raised for slaughter. An Aggie is a ... aint it a rock?

alright, alright... I'll stop throwing rocks in my little glass house :lol

I will be rooting the Giants but I think the Pats will win.
The undefeated regular season has already been done (albeit a 14 game season then...) It will mean nothing unless the Pats win the SB. If they are fortunate enough to win the SB, then they will be the 2nd team to have a perfect season, and an asterik next to their name with mention of cheating.
'72 Dolphins would have walked all over these guys.:aok

OMG, the NFL definately wants to see Pats win this one, Webster was just flagged for a BS call...the Pats receiver pushed off Webster and Webster gets the flag.

What do you mean, "this one?" That has been a pattern ever since the whole "tuck rule."

Close game! 14-13

Funny thing about the 3-network simulcast, the two "regular" networks have so far failed to show that they deserved to be allowed to broadcast the game.
On NBC, so far they've played the audio for commercials during the first 5 minutes of the game including during the national anthem, and the audio is not synchronized with the video half of the time. It's off by quite a noticeable amount especially during commercials.
On the other station (CBS?) the video quality is so poor, I can't watch it. The top bit of the screen looks like a poorly adjusted 20 year old tube tv (wiggly and colors off), the brightness/contrast is off on the entire screen, and there is a light colored band about 1/3 of the way down from the top of the screen.
NBC video quality is essentially perfect as far as I can tell, watching it over digital cable on a 37" LCD.
Irritating... It's like they're new at this or something (insert old rolleyes here)

Definately entertaining first half. I predict a typical Manning fold, and Pat win.

We';re watching NFL network on 37" LCD (HD) and its perfect too.:aok So perfect in fact I think Randy Moss needs to trim his nose hairs.:huh

I don't get HD cable (or satellite) until I finish my MBA. I *should* be writing a paper right now... Good thing the wife is out shopping :)
Oh. Wait. Oh hell. She's out... damn.

Pats take the lead on 3 field goals... Reminds me of San Diego one year... They had a couple of games one year where they'd win something like 33 to 21, with no touchdowns. Crazy.
Still, if they can keep marching down the field and nailing those field goals, and their defense keeps up the pressure, that's not all that bad of a result.
-
21-16
-
Heck of a first half.
As well as the Giants defense has been playing, they will have to play better to pull off a win (i.e. turnovers and force punts instead of give up field goals).
-
28-16...Giants are striking!
-
OMG! Giants get TD 28-16, 8 or so left in 3rd...Giants under impression they can win here:O
-
Number 59 needs to learn to read the receiver's eyes, and turn and look for the ball.
He has missed 2 picks and taken one penalty because he won't turn around.
-
NE is back up 31-28
-
This game is going to wind up being more entertaining than the superbowl.
-
Oh well, Giants put up good fight---looks like Pats gonna go up by 10

That Brady-Moss touchdown is one of those (very rare) moments that makes me wonder if all the :noid crowd are correct. The previous play, all the defenders either let Moss go or fell down, giving him an easy, walk-in touchdown, and . . . Moss drops the ball.
Uh-oh, a drop wasn't in the script . . .
So, do the exact same play, and again the defenders are all absent? :huh
Un be liev a ble.

Isn't worth a thing if they lose in the playoffs. They are not 16-0, they are now 0-0. It's time for the second season, the one that really matters
-
HAHA all you Hatriots!
FU SHula, no matter what, its 16-0 regular season undefeated!
Great game!!!! TY NYG for the effort! Got my pulse racing!
To be honest, the superbowl is secondary this time around. I wanted 16-0, and I wanted Brady to beat Mannings record, and Moss to beat Rice's record...oh and get the highest points for season record!
Done
Done
Done
Done!
Now on to the playoffs! Frankly Im content no matter what :)
Rip..put on a #12 jersey..you know you wanna :P
Oh PS..im drunk outta my head lol!!

God I hate the Patriots.
what a horrible point in life, I have to say I was alive, rooting against them, and didn't watch the game as to not jinx the Giants (whatever I watch alone at home the team I want to win loses ALWAYS).
History made that makes me sad. As a kid growing up honestly learning who Larry Csonka was made me interested in football.
this sucks.
-
Where were "all of these Patriot fanboi's when Tony Eason was their QB"? I know where, not on the bandwagon.

Hehehe...If nothing else..theres that!
Your suffering shall be legendary...even in hell!

But Tom Brady is the All-American Boy.
He even dates super models!!!
His parents live a block from where I grew up. He was the star football player at our local Catholic High School.
Every year the Patriots go the Super Bowl, his parents get a permit from the city, and throw a block party for everyone living on their block.
I wonder if they will have another party this year??

All this hype over a football game reminds me of the spectical of the Roman gladiatorial games. Even the maim and hurt is part of both. Then add the pre-historic victory dances.

He may be a super stud quarterback, no doubt about that. But how he's treated Bridget Moynahan and his love child makes Tom closer to Travis Henry than anything else.

Im not much of a conspiracy nut, but I did notice the 2nd half of the Miami game, NE just shut down with only 2 TDs to get the record. Like they were saving it for the BIG game. Who knows what goes on behind the closed doors of the owners, the commissioner and the advertizers.

To an extent yes todays atheletes are a higher calibre. But thats as much in size as anything else.
But...
Compairing the two its like comparing apples and oranges.
It was also almost an entirely different game then it is today as well.
So it really isnt fair to even try to compare the two.

They gambled, and lost. The corner dropped down on Welker with the linebacker, thinking a quick throw for a first down(which is what the Pats called). Now Moss just sprinted 60 yards, what are the chances he's got gas left late in the game to sprint another 60 yards? They were hoping to guess the play and pick off Brady. But Brady has great vision, he saw it unfold and chucked it downfield. Moss on a safety, they had no chance once the ball was thrown.
Look, you have options, you can double Moss and let them nickle and dime you all the way down the field, or you can take a shot and try to make something happen.
I prefer to let them nickle and dime and hope for a mistake or a lineman gets home and strips Brady. Either way i'm not leaving my safety on an island against Moss, no way.
My guess is they had that play drawn up during the week and practiced it. They were waiting for a chance to use it, and where Moss just sprinted 60 yards late in the game, it was then or never. If they did get the turnover(or incomplete, I think it was 3rd down) and the offense converted that into points, you're in real good shape to win the game.
