Earlier this morning I switched from ground vis to full vis and something happened. Most everything went white. I could still see some of the base icons on my clipboard map, I could see parts of some of the words, but the rest was white.
I figured I just needed a restart, but that didnt help either. Once the computer booted up and I tried to run AHII the splash screen was the same white as the game, and I was prompted to redo the cache. However this didnt solve the problem. I Alt+F4'd out and tried again, same deal.
I tried alt-tabbing to start this post, but my entire desktop is the same way. I'm typing with it like this now. If I close AHII, it goes back to normal.
I tried taking a screen capture but when I opened it up in Paint, it looked normal.
I've tried AH Film Viewer, works normally. All other programs I've tried work normally (after I close out AHII).
I've tried adjusting my settings, both with display properties & Nvidias control panel. Neither had any noticable effect.
Here are my current settings/system specs:
Screen Resolution 1680x1050
Color Quality Highest (32 bit)
ViewSonic VX2235wm [Monitor] 22.0"vis
Video Card - Nvidia 6800, I think its the 512mb version, cant remember
Windows XP
1gb RAM
GPU temp - 73c (ambient is 45c, slowdown threshold is 127c)
I'm at a loss. Is this going to require a reload of AHII? Not a huge problem, but something I'd rather not do.
ANY advice or suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Find the "video8.cfg" file and remove it from the games 'settings' folder. Default location: C:\Program Files\HTC\Aces High II\settings\video8.cfg

That fixed it right up, thank you!

Been playing for a year and 1 month and had this happen for the first time. What causes this?
-
Typically, it is the gamma slider, but it could also be a dtail slider when using some onboard video chips.
I need to start gathering those corrupt video8.cfg files so we can analyze them and see what is happening.

mine happened when i clicked the detail. I wasn't seeing any fire when ammo bunkers, radar or any hangers were getting hit so i bumped up the detail and poof, white screen.
Thanks.

You guys should create a utility that you simply double click on, and it restores a "default" video8.cfg file, and sends a copy of the old one to HT.
