Title: "How to Get Started" tutorial now up!
Post by: Krusty on January 01, 2008, 02:13:00 PM
Well I haven't got too much feedback so I figure I'll just open it up to the public. I can still make a few changes if need be. I was hoping to get screen captures and how-to steps of the equivelant things I did, only in GIMP and PSP, so that I could round out the guide better, but all I have is Photoshop 5.1.

"How to Start and AH Skin" Tutorial (http://www.nakatomitower.com/skins/tutorial.html)

I know I've had many many folks ask me how to get started over the years, and some I've replied to, and some I haven't. Sorry if I never got back to you. I've been planning a tutorial for some time and thought it'd be done sooner, so I held off until I could just point you to this. It's much more than I could ever include in a single PM reply.

Note: This doesn't tell you how to use the graphics program, or how to get a certain effect to look right. This shows you the basics of getting the files you need, and the general concept of how you work on top of the default, and how to submit when done. The bulk of the work relies on you.

I only know of the 3 major ones that support layers. Photostudio is news to me.

Thanks Krusty. I have started my first P47 skin, just to see if I can do one. It's good to know I'm on the right track.

How do I get the skin I am working on into the Offline Arena?  I have it in the folder form right now in the skins folder.  From there what is the next step of getting it viewable...?:huh

You don't need to worry about the .res files. They're for online use only.

I've just checked my mail (sorry for the delay!) and sent a reply.

You might want to check it out, too long to explain in here.
