I had the rare opportunity to fly AH for an extended period yesterday afternoon. AvA actually had some people in it at around 3:00 EST. One of those people was being unpleasant enough, despite repeated warnings, that I muted him.
Within a few seconds my chat buffer showed this message:
Your chat privileges have been suspended.
Your voice privileges have been suspended.
Your chat privileges have been suspended.
Your voice privileges have been suspended.
And, in fact, this was true. My buffer messages didn't get through, nor did my voice transmissions.
Befuddled Oldman! In less than a second, I knew what I had to do. Call Skuzzy. So I did and, as Skuzzy always does, he solved the problem within minutes. It appears that our AvA settings allowed for a minimum number of complainers to effectuate the communications suspension of another player. More: Skuzzy says that my incident was not the first. He ascertained that the abuse has been frequent.
The problem has now been fixed. The AvA staff is wiser. I even have a suspicion as to who the perps were. I post this long account because some among us may think that they have been muted by moderators, when in fact this has not been so. I am aware of at least one quite recent instance where this seems to have happened. So, with this explanation, I hope that those who believe they were unfairly treated may feel better about things.

I've noticed myself that the AvA...well....she ain't what she used to be. Rather than a cadre of honorable opponents it's just MA with limited planesets. Sigh...
6 or 7 vs 1, very very poor attitudes...not the usual smack, lots and lots of drama lol.
It's like flying with Jerry Springer.

I feel better. Thanks for the update Oldman.

I often have muted myself on the squad channel shooting off my mouth - kinda funny... :)
There are two settings under Arena Settings>Environment - right at the top where us AvA admins can set when we do a setup. We don't mess with it because we really don't know what the settings do. Guess we found out that it needs to be set right.
Either way, we're wiser and s.m.r.t.-er :D

I was under the impression that the amount of .reports needed to insta-mute someone was controlled by HTC and is not a setting to be found in Arena Settings.
Correct me if i'm wrong.

Back to class Lute!
I'll send you the setting.

(I really got to start paying attention to when they add stuff)
Thanks ROC!

he should have a special setting where this is NOT possible... and the instaboom command.
