Title: Flakpanzer IV (2cm) Wirbelwind
Post by: Larry on January 05, 2008, 07:29:43 PM
Yes I know its been asked for many times, but I think its that time again. From everything Iv read I think the wirblewind would be alot better AA tank then the Ostwind. The rof of the WW is around 800rpm compared to the OS's 160rpm. The WWs HE round weighed 0.3 lbs and was fired at a muzzle velocity of 2,953'/sec. One thing that really stands out is that only 43 OWs were produced to the WWs (from what I read) 140. I wouldnt even mind getting rid of the OW and have it replaced with the WW.

I'd froth at the mouth with this enacted.   The Knights and Bishops would regret it though.

What about a Crusader Mk III anti aircraft tank? About 400 of these were made.

I asked for Wirbelwind long time ago, would be very nice edition to base defense, that or SdKfz 7/1 (SdkFz 7 armed with a 2 cm Flakvierling 38 L/112.5 multiple gun mounting, appearing with both open and armored cab.)

With SdkFz added to game, posibilities could be open to having a 7.5cm version for attacking town (short barrel 7.5cm)

or SdKfz 7/2 with 3.7cm would be nice for all purpose.

Thats 3 versions of the SdKfz would be useful in game.

I say add the 2 cm Flakvierling 38 L/112.5 to manned guns would be awesome.

You'd have a mixed bag of 3.7cm and Flakvierling's defending a field.

The M3 could easily be expanded as well.  There were versions mounting 105mm howitzers, 75mm AT guns, the obvious and already available M16, and a version (M15 I believe) that had a 37mm AA gun with a .50cal Browning mounted to either side.

Not to mention the myriad of versions of the PzkwIV and Sherman we could have . . .

Suffice it to say, I would love to see a wider variety of GV offerings all around, but we could get a fairly wide variety just by expanding the variations of the existing platforms.

Just use the letter and then e... a mit umlaut=ae, o mit umlaut=oe, and u mit umlaut=ue. Otherwise you have to use the unicodes.

I was thinking at work (damn this game is distracting-LOL), does the WW have the same 37mm cannon(s) as the Ostie?

Yes, by all means, something else for the dweebs to park on the rearm pad and blast away at the attacking a/c with impunity.

Theres stuff much more urgent than another AAA vehicle.

We could have said the same thing about the firefly, T34, and B25s.

Copy that Carwash.  I guess I glossed over that and started drewling over the PIC and possibilities!  So we are dealing with a 20 MM.  Is it a cannon shell and what's our range compared with the Ostie or M-16?  Anyone?

The dweeb thing is open to interpretation, and really has no relevance to this post.  I myself like the ground aspect of AH insofar as the AAA vehicles are concerned.  I do not care for the tank portion of the game due to the current video "gamey" stuff that can be altered to make it to easy to snipe.  This leaves the Ostie & M-16 AAA vehicles for my enjoyment.  As far as sitting on the rearm pad blasting away with impunity, I really wish you would let the Rooks and Bishops know that I have this magic power.  Maybe they will stop shooting out my "impunable" main gun, and stop dropping bombs and killing my "impunable" Ostwind.

OINK
