Title: Video Converter
Post by: GunRunner82 on January 07, 2008, 01:04:53 AM
Just wondering what video converter or method of conversion all the film makers are using.

I have been using a free converter from softdepo.com, seems to be okay but somewhat confusing at the same time (not sure if i am converting to the proper bit/rates

After the coversion i have been using Magix's Photostory Cd and DVD 2005 to put my films together.

Anyways, If i need to buy one no big deal....but my budget is limited since i am the only working adult in the house.

any and all input is always helpful

Well, many use the FRAPS program from http://www.fraps.com
Making the movie,  I use the Windows Movie Maker which is included with Windows XP. It's free and converts .avi files to .wmv and compresses them nicely.
You might search this forum in the last 90 days as this question is addressed by many others regularly.

People around here use FRAPS to record and use Sony Vegas to edit. Both are payware however you can use FRAPS for free. The only down-side comes to a shortage of recording time and fraps placing their website link on your film.

You get 30-seconds at a time with the free FRAPS, which is not too bad if you think about it... :aok

I use FRAPS and then Ulead to edit. Real happy with Ulead, but have heard good things about Vegas too.
