Hilarious...

The corps should counter sue and say you were stupid to live in an area below sea level with a river that ran through the middle of the city at a higher the street level elevation.

They should file a 4 quadrillion suit and request it be payed in mexican pesos.

The sad part is, stupid stuff like that will clog up our courts for years while actual cases get pushed to the back burner.

No, I thought the tsunami had something to do with global warming and global warming is George Bush's fault so I guess they need to sue GW...or was Katrina GW's fault.  I think we need lazs2's input on this! :D

I say that the Army Corp of Engineers should begin a phased redeployment of New Orleans.  The surge has clearly not worked.

They should take the levees with them, we don't want the natives to steal something that isn't theirs.

The next time you hear a politician use the Word 'billion' in a casual manner, think about whether you want the 'politicians' spending YOUR tax money.

A billion is a difficult number to comprehend, but one advertising agency did a good job of putting that figure into some perspective in one of its releases.

A. A billion seconds ago it was 1959.

B. A billion minutes ago Jesus was alive.

C. A billion hours ago our ancestors were living in the Stone Age.

D. A billion days ago no-one walked on the earth on two feet.

E. A billion dollars ago was only 8 hours and 20 minutes, at the rate our government is spending it.

While this thought is still fresh in our brain, let's take a look at New
Orleans It's amazing what you can learn with some simple division. .

Louisiana Senator, Mary Landrieu (D), is presently asking the Congress for
$250 BILLION to rebuild New Orleans.  Interesting number, what does it mean?

A. Well, if you are one of 484,674 residents of New Orleans (every man, woman, child), you each gets $516,528.

B. Or, if you have one of the 188,251 homes in New Orleans, your home gets $1,329,787.

C. Or, if you are a family of four, your family gets $2,066,012.

That's YOUR tax dollars...

Tax & Spend...Tax & Spend....

Corp should issue a statement saying they were trying to protect those too stupid to live in an area above sea level. The levee failed and many stupid folks lost their personal belongings. Oh Well! There are many more where they came from. The Gene Pool is deep with shallow minds.

The corp should destroy the levees and let nature take it's course... they can move New Orleans a few miles away and call it New-New Orleans

New Orleans was in a flood plain area. Everyone who lived there, owning or not, should have had flood insurance paid for out of their pockets. It's not the Federal Govt's responsibility to bail out everyone who did not take steps to insure their own property. That includes business operations as well.

I don't think you can sue the government. The lawsuits were filed to make a statement....don't think the plaintiff's are expecting any money out of this.

Perhaps these people who are suing the Army Corps of Engineers might care to sue those who are ultimately responsible; ie. the local leadership that used the federal money given them to improve the levies on other more important things like private jets...

If the plaintiff was not paying taxes, and therefore not funding the Corps, they should be eliminated from the suit.

If they were paying taxes, they had insurance and they should be compensated by their insurance companies.

If they did not have insurance, as a taxpayer, I choose to not compensate them for their shortsightedness.

If you live in a ditch, eventually you will get wet.

You can sue the hell out of the government.  Successfully even.

I have no compassion for those that do not even try to help themselves.  New Orleans WAS NOT the worst area hit.  But what we see is the total collapse and failure of the Welfare System.

Where as other areas cleaned up after themselves, New Orleans really hasn't lifted a finger to do anything.

Where as in other areas evacuated when they had several days notice, New Orleans residents DID NOTHING.

Not to mention the almost absolute plundering of the Superdome that the rest of the US's taxpayers had to pay for.

I have absolutely no compassion for those sewer rats.

You guys act like this is the only place in the US people don't deserve help. Did we complain about the Northridge earthquake and all the tax payer dollars that went to help those victims. How about when Florida was struck with 4 hurricanes in one season, did we complain about helping them. Did we complain about the tax dollars going to ground zero when the world trade center was not a publicly owned building? How about tornado alley, do we complain about the idots who live in spots where you play russian roulette with huge twisting winds of rage? How about the northeast and the snow and ice storms that suck up tax payer dollars? How about the fires up in Montana or again in California, it's a friggin desert, what did you expect.

You guys need to lighten up, this is almost the proverbial glass house stone throw.

Lol you compare that to folks that live underwater? Not only that... you compare those folks that got help and went on their way to folks in new orleans that make a living on asking and getting help.... it is incredible that anyone is getting help still from that storm so long ago.

Maybe you can pay some retribution to NO for what happened there in the war between the states or do you draw the line at some year that help finally stops.

You seem to like spending other folks money...... why don't you go there and do some labor to help and donate from your pocket. Cut out the middle man and just go buy some drugs and alcohol and distribute it..... because the only folks still on the handout are the ones that were before the storm.

They are not asking, they are demanding in the form of a suit with an outrageous amount. They want to scam the country for their problem and inability to deal with it. There were lots of other folks who got hit as bad or worse in Katrina yet they are not asking or demanding to be made rich for life becasue of it.

I have helped quite a few folks in my life..... folks of all colors and beliefs. I simply refuse to help anyone that won't try to help themselves. You sit on a corner all day and complain you can't find a job..... I won't help, but if your actively out making all attempts at improving yourself and just coming up a little short.... I'll help that person.

The folks referenced in suits like this are next to the lowest scum on earth.... the lowest being the lawyers pressing the suit.

I've lived in the Northeast all my life and never received a single cent in government money for snow and ice storms. Not even when my parents second garage roof collapsed ruining everything inside. Sure my dad got a check to fix and/or replace everything but that was from the insurance company paying on the policy my father had, not some hand-out from the government.

I have no problem with assisting the truly needy.  I DO have a problem with my tax dollars being given to professional beggers.  Especially those that vote into office some of the most corrupt state and local officials in the country.

The recovery effort in New Orleans isn't a disaster because of FEMA.  It's a disaster due to the indigent spongers and their shameless, demanding government mouthpieces.
