An opinion piece I suppose.
Here you go....

What kind of country would we have if this happened?

I read the article. The writer made the assumption that the Europeans' intended to reciprocate for voting in our elections. They did not.
But you have this sort of thing in opinion pieces...
-
We already have that. It's called the UN.

This is just silly and only proves that stupid people are everywhere. How slow does a news day have to be for that to be newsworthy? Jeez...

The folks advocating that are either as dumb as a can of rocks, or off their rocker.
What idiot would advocate being able to vote in another sovereign nation's national elections without being a citizen of that nation?
DO Americans want the French to be able to vote in our own national elections?
HE-double-hockey-sticks-NO...
I want the French standing by at the ready in France to be able to throw up their hands and white flag at a moments notice when another country says "Boo".
The next time we're not bailing them out.

I'd just like to say that the French Resistance did a valiant job of resisting the Nazis, albeit after the French government had surrendered.
I think it would be more accurate to say:
I want the French government standing by at the ready in France to be able to throw up their hands and white flag at a moments notice when another country says "Boo".
In WWII, the French government surrendered, many of the French people didn't.
Also, could you please tell me what you mean by "bailing them out"?
-
I believe "bailing them out" equates to them being able to speak french, not german.
-
No thanks - I dont trust half the populace of the UK not to reinstate this current bunch of lying, cheating, stealing, incompetent, holier than thou half wits. I'd hate for that to happen to anywhere else in the world (and yep, that includes france (sorry, I just had to))

As valiant as the resistance movements in Europe were, do you honestly
believe that any of them had any chance of evicting the Nazis? Heck, even
the Free French Army used US vehicles, equipment and small arms.
The resistance was also dependent on Allied supplies for things like
radios, small arms and explosives.

Don't say never. Should Hillary become the next POTUS Europe's opinion may well rule our homeland.

Yeah and if the french did not help us out our military would still have red coat's.
Give some... get some, WE the american people needed there help, and they gave it. They "the french people" needed help, we helped them.
What moral fiber of these bottom lines do you fail to understand?
If anything we owed them in wwII.

the US should have never invaded France in WW2, France was a peaceful country at war with no one and being defended by their friends the Germans when the US and England invaded peaceful France killing untold numbers of innocent French.

You need to brush up one some things in WW2.
1. France declared war on Germany. The USA didn't. France surrendered after loosing the fight.
2. The British also declared war on Germany. They lost the fight on the continent, but kept their feet in the air and on the seas.
3. At the time, Germany had one big Ally, -the USSR. Good, for it provided them with a lot of raw materials.
4. Many Americans thought it was pointless for the British to fight on. Remember that the British are Europeans and members of the EU today.
5. Untill 1941 Germany had open Business to the USA. But the British stopped them from shopping.
6. In 1941 the British were allowed to go shopping arms in the USA. It passed the senate by a MARGIN.
7. After Pearl Harbour, the Germans declared war on the USA.
8. To beat the Germans, you had to pass through France, Italy, or leave it to the Russians. All 3 were the case.
So, in short, France did get a beating, but the USA did not rush in just like that to save just them. It was a part of the whole mosaic.

The French are like that with everyone. :lol Don't take it so personally. Why is it you want to approval of the French all the time?
In any case, would someone please explain why you are all attacking the French on the basis of a daft opinion piece by a BELGIAN woman in a DUTCH language newspaper?
Europe = France France = Europe
