For our next setup, we'll be hosting a War between Germany and Allied forces. How is this going to work? EVERYONE - PLEASE READ CAREFULLY!
a) Both sides start off with a map and a set # of bases.
b) Each week, each side will have primary objectives set. I.e. Capture base(s) 45 and 46 AND hold them until Date XX at XX time. There are 5 sets of objectives to complete and win the war.
c) If both sides completes their objectives, or if both objectives are not met, the war continues.
d) If one side completes their objectives, the battle-line is move forward for the winning side with additional bases
e) Additional targets are given (secondary objectives) that if complete in additional to the successful primary, bonuses are given. I.e. a newer aircraft or vehicle.
f) To win the war, all 5 objectives have to be successfully met over the 5 weeks.
In order to expedite and assist in the war, we require Generals for each side. If you are interest, we recommend that you are a) in a squadron, and b) have experience leading men in battle, either in real life or online. In addition, squadrons can declare their allegiance to which side they are fighting for.
We need for each side:
A) Commander in Chief
B) 2 I/C
C) Squadrons to declare their nationality.
Please reply to this message or PM if you are interested and to declare your nationality.
Who are you? Are you Axis or Allied?
-
I'm surprised that there have been no responses yet, so I'll start it off.
There is potential here, and there is only one way to find out if it turns out as well as it could.
But, what about us squadless, skilless dweebs?
I have no intention of joning a squad, yet I am willing to be a peon/fodder for a side when I have time available.
I am equally adept at dying with either group of aircraft, athough I have more practice dying in Allied rides.
I am willing to participate if able, and will reserve declaration of allegiance depending on what is needed.
Edit #1: Apostrophes are evil.
-
Us Avengers will be fighting for the Axis forces this month. I have tons of experiance leading men into war, both online and in real life; but no where near enough experiance in AH to take the bull by the horns. So, I offer my squad and myself to follow orders of the chosen Axis leader for the duration of the war. I'll keep an eye on this post for ferther developments.
-
The AArch AAngels would like to participate in this event. We would like to join the Axis side this month. As far as experience in leading, i have numerious experience and skill in leading men, planes, tanks, etc.
I'm primary as mission planner/runner/ CO in snapshots and such, so i know the feeling to be behind the big mans chair. If there isn't a CO for axis i would like to apply for that postion as well.
-
The Haze is interested in this. We will fly Allied. This has a lot of potential. Look forward to it.
-
Might need to join the allied side, this sounds fun!
-
H'ain't official, but I think I can vouch for the 353rd FG SLYBIRD chugging on the Allies side. Especially if this thing turns into an uber DGS type event! w00t n h00t! :D
Keep us posted on what's needed to make this thing a GO!:aok

I know your intent is good but if I'm already losing, why do I want to keep coming back with an even more powerful opponent.
:aok on the new direction.
Better aircraft at the rear bases might compensate in some way?

However If you where to put better aircraft in the rear baces,
The fuel should be limited at the rear bases so as to keep
players from flying the better aircraft to the front lines from
the onset of the war.
When the lines move closer to the rear bases then you could fly the better aircraft, and try to slow down the attack and regain
ground to push the enemy back.
Just a thought.

Squads are not necessary but helpful if you declare a side as we will be announcing the winners at the end of the war, as well as top medals for squads and pilots. You can then wear these medals in your squad home pages and signatures. :)
I still don't have any commanders. Any takers?
-
Thrilled to see this. I'd always daydreamed (believe I shared it here in the past) of a dynamic campaign that also included attacking industry of the other side to affect technological advancment, availability of equip per base, etc. Kudos! Finally! :D

For the challenge? What kept the Luftwaffle flying when the war was really over? The Kaiser's flyers doing the same 25 years before? The Samurais of the skies in the Pacific? Historical gamers don't always play for just a win. Could it be ... the immersion and experience? Difference here being ... you're not scripted to just lose if you're on the historically losing side. You can win the war. Ain't that somethin' .... better? :) :aok
-
OK, allied, IN
-
all I can say is wow... maybe I should reopen my account, its been a year, see if my old squad will still take me back
-
so what do you got to do to register?
and do I have to stick to one side? during the whole event?
if so then I will wait till this event passes.....
-
To qualify for medals and awards, you need to fly one side for the entire war (your stats will show). But you can fly any side you wish. :)

Actually, fuel would be more likely to be limited at the forward bases. In RL, the forward bases were always screaming for aprts and fuel.
Rear bases (REMFs) always had the best chow, parts, gas, and girls.
Now I do not agree with giving side A more planes, let alone better ones, just because they trounced side B That's poppycock and if you want this AVA thing to work, you'll not even consider it.
I'd rather instead let the Generals decide where they want their planes sent as far as bases. Then the CO's can tell the Generals how many planes they have available for missions (escorts, JABO, Bomber, etc) and work up the mission parameters from that data.
Them's me thoughts for now.

It might be alittle smart to tell people what country is allied and axis.
-
Note:
Axis are Bishops.
Allies are Rooks.
If you log on as Knights, you won't even see the map. If you're like me, this can be unnerving, as you wonder what's wrong with your computer. (Some have been known to log off and reboot the computer.) For once, however, there is NOTHING wrong with your computer - just switch to one of the two enabled countries.

From the other thread. I haven't been to the arena yet so I don't know whether it's stated in the MOTD, but entering the hangar and seeing the planes available should clear any doubts about what side you're on.

I'm in with The Avengers as axis!

Stay away from me with that 9mm pistol.... I heard about you!:D :D :rofl All I could think of was that shot in Tall. nights where they crashed the cars and foot raced to the finish:aok WTG TK!

I was nit when I logged on. The MOTD says nothing about which country is what. So I go rook and I see a spit in the hanger. I then try to go bish when I get a popup box saying I have to wait 40mins to change countrys.

Great Idea! Kudos!
Count 249 Sqn RAF "Gold Coast" IN!
RAF means...that we would like to be on Allied side, naturally, and, if possible, fly British kites.
We accept to drive land leased "yankee" planes but we insist in giving them a different name and camo. Roundels are the only way our Axis fellows can aim at us, poor krouts...
Also, we demand an Air Marshall, a Vice-Air Marshall, a Commodore and all their staff, official vehicles included. We also find essential, a few WASPs and, of course, an Officers and NCOs Mess and Nissen Huts with heating.
Tea and gin are mandatory, as is beer. A few cigarretes too.
My cat will be the Squadron's mascot, he will need his own quarters and staff too.
If those requirements are met, we may participate in all sorties that do not collide with our bridge, gin rummy, cricket, rugby and football matches.
Thank you,
Sparrow

Sir, request permission to express a suggestion, Sir!
Please, put the different countries planes in different bases, Sir!
The Japanese hate wine, the Italians can't stand sake and the Jerries drank all the beer, Sir!
Also, none of them understands the manuals, Sir!
The Brits and the Yanks are fist fighting all time, some like their beer cold, some warm, the barman had a nervous breakdown.
And if the prettiest girls are in the rear bases, I would rather be posted there, Sir!
Thank you, Sir!

Sad to say I decided to give this a try tonight being I love the Huri 1's. Looks like this has brought out the tyical MA dweebism to the AvA.
Was 2 rooks (I was only guy in the air) about about 6 or 7 bish or what ever the axis side is. Was nothing but gang tards and then they started vulching. Asked why the ganging and vulching in the AvA.. Answer.. "we have to capture the base".
So much for "War" I guess just about Real Estate now. Oh well back to the MA I go..
-
Crocett try it when the numbers are even. Usually 4-9pm PST. Early morn or late evening is not a good representation of the fun 30+ with even sides has. Also remember this is a war with the objective to take and hold until Jan 18 to receive new planes into the plane set.
This is a War with objectives.

You came in 20 minutes after the guys you were flying with were doing the same thing to grab A21. The land grab comment came from some one on your own side. With the bases so close why not just up from another field and kil the cap?:huh

I upped 1 sortie with all those other guys there.. They were a squad or something. I didn't see them vulching anyone they were just close to your base and in a furball. They all left after my first sortie. Those guys were all flying Spit 1's with a single F4F, so I find it very hard to believe they were actually vulching your base.
I was there to fly the Huri 1 because it's one of my favorite planes. All the Axis where flying A6m2's and one 110. No way is a single H1 going to kill a cap of 4 A6m's and a 110. I mean lets get real here specially when it takes all of what 2 mins to fly back and recap the base even if I kill all of you.
I asked you guys to at least give me a fair fight and told you I was the only guy in the air. Guess what you wouldn't so I left. I sure hope you got that undefended base capture, I bet that was a lot of fun.

You're right. I made it all up to sound cool on the BBS. After all, if you dont believe something happened then no way it happened correct? I apologize that you are restricted to flying the Hurri Mk I as well. I will post in the MOTD that you are to receive special treatment from now on and all players shall adjust to your wishes upon your arrival to the arena.

Sorry my bad, I didn't think the AvA had turned into the Jr MA, I thought it was a place to find a fight or two..my mistake. Have fun capturing bases and vulching rather than actually fighting.

Sorry man, I have to vulch to get kills. Its pathetic.:cry

LOL that's the downside to the base capture stuff. Last night we were attempting a base capture. I vultched Jamusta on the runway, and felt dirty. My Karma still wasn't cleansed next sortie when he blew my C-47 away. I owe him another airframe or two. The next base we attacked I purposely stayed away from the runways, so I wouldn't feel the need to suppress the uppers. The unappreciative bastages upped and killed me.
War is hell. ;)
