War is coming to the AvA
For our next setup, we'll be hosting a War between Axis and Allied forces. How is this going to work? EVERYONE - PLEASE READ CAREFULLY!
a) Both sides start off with a map and a set # of bases.
b) Each week, each side will have primary objectives set. I.e. Capture base(s) 45 and 46 AND hold them until Date XX at XX time. There are 5 sets of objectives to complete and win the war.
c) If both sides completes their objectives, or if both objectives are not met, the war continues.
d) If one side completes their objectives, the battle-line is move forward for the winning side with additional bases
e) Additional targets are given (secondary objectives) that if complete in additional to the successful primary, bonuses are given. I.e. a newer aircraft or vehicle.
f) To win the war, all 5 objectives have to be successfully met over the 5 weeks.
In order to expedite and assist in the war, we require Generals for each side. If you are interest, we recommend that you are a) in a squadron, and b) have experience leading men in battle, either in real life or online. In addition, squadrons can declare their allegiance to which side they are fighting for.
We need for each side:
A) Commander in Chief
B) 2 I/C
C) Squadrons to declare their nationality.
Please reply to this message or PM if you are interested and to declare your nationality.
Who are you? Are you Axis or Allied?

Is this an open arena? If yes, how do you keep other players who don't read this BBS from interfering/breaking rules?

Yes, it is open. I expect it says something about the rules in the Arena Message, but I haven't checked it yet...

Axis are Bishops.
Allies are Rooks.

So anyone not signing up will be disco'd??? How do you control an open arena?
-
You just are not entitled for awards, medals, and ribbons if you choose not to pick a side or sign up. :)
-
I'm in. I would prefer Allied but if it is too lopsided I will be part of the Axis.

Republic reporting for duty for the Axis.

As long as the teams are well stocked this could be fine. Might add interest to the AVA. Always nice when you can turn off icons and know when someone is a friend or foe. Adds to the realism of confirming before shooting too. hmmmmm

We need for each side:...C) Squadrons to Declare their nationality
I'm a bit confused. Can Players individually declare their nationality if part of a squad or does the entire squad have to declare a common nationality? Or in other words, as a member of FATE Squad could I declare an allegiance to the axis side while another squad mate declares allegiance to the allies?

TrueKill should be Axis C/O, and if not TK, Storch.

Hi Fork!
We already registered as Allied Squadron and we look forward to it. I am trying to bring our Wing Commander back to AH and if it happens I will urge him to volunteer for Allied chair - or second seat - if the post is still vacant by then.
I also would like to state that we will operate from Europe, in GMT (Zulu Time) so, we will be ready for operational activities mainly in that time zone.
It might be an important info for HQ planning.

This sounds interesting...! Would like to be axis since I'm thinking the numbers might be lopsided for them.

I dont think Ill be taking part in this. This is going to bring to many people the AvA, and once that happens there will be picking, ganging, and all out MAness everywhere.

Gentlemen,
I have already signed up 249 Sqn RAF "Gold Coast" members in another thread, but I would like to do it again, just in case...
So, here's the first volunteer list: Sparow, Majors, Coemar, Ramjet, Marcof. Some other members may join as we go, all in our roster that log into AvA are instructed to go Allied wait 10 minutes for other members and after that ask for orders from HQ.
We will do whatever is needed: fighters, bombers, goons and even GV's. We are more comfortable in fighters.
-
I flew briefly in there this evening before work (posting this from my cubicle) and I like the set up, it would be more fun with more axis players on to work together (here were like 2-3 of us Vs. a bunch of spit Mk.1 and tomahawks). If the axis can muster some numbers by this set up would be great, y'all whoom have not tried it yet aught to check it out! :aok
-
Numbers are sporatic, for both sides. For most of the night this evening it was about 15vs15. Occasionally there was some lopsidedness but it usually evened out quickly.

I would love to see that in AvA, any chance of getting this?

If im not mistaken they can pretty much do this. Set the icon range to 4 or 500 ft.
-
Now that would be sweet to actually have to identify friendlies from foes before the attack. :aok
-
3K icons or else MA standard are the only two options.

Emu for axis

Oh well, I think all in all the new set up is fun, just need to get on when there are more axis on.
-
Tired of the normal MA fair? This new setup is great fun. I highly recommend it! Flown two times now with my squad, and both times it was a freaking hoot!:aok
