I've been browsing throught the Linux related posts and haven't found much pertaining to the mainstream distro's. I've been with FC from 6-7 and I'm thinking about moving to Ubuntu for awhile but haven't really decided yet. Has anyone actually gotten AHII to work with FC? I chose FC because it was cutting edge Linux, but I'm tiring of all the tweaking required. I may move to something to more stable before I try to get AHII working.
WHat steps are necesary to make AHII run on a rpm based system like FC? The very idea of putting windows software on a linux box is disturbing but hey - I like the game. Asking people in the FC community would bring only strange looks and sarcastic replies.

I know it runs on ubuntu. I think you have a variety of options on how. I know that there are commercial add ons that make it easier but they arent really needed.

I need to replace my video card before I can install Ubuntu. I haven't tried in the last 6 months, but all previous attempts were stymied by my video. I don;t want to have to edit text files every time I have to re-install or update the system to get Ubuntu to work with my ATI card. (It has settings for almost every ATI card except mine and I can't get through the basic install process)
I'll try it again and see if by some providence it will install with my video card without tweaking.

Ati doesn't work with linux. It gets 10% performance compared to nvidia because of crappy driver support.
So if you wish to go linux way, get an nvidia card and Ubuntu. Ati will not work properly with any of the distros.

I have played Aces on Fedora, Ubuntu, Suse and PClinuxOS.
The best game play I have experience is on PCLinuxOS, the hat viewer on my Saitek St290 pro works, on the rest of them it doesn't. My preferred Distro is Fedora, my non geek wife uses and loves Ubuntu. I really like Ubuntu because of its Debian base but also because it is SO Easy to use.
