Title: S.a.p.p.
Post by: BMathis on January 18, 2008, 02:05:25 PM
I'm relatively new to AH; About a year and some change. I'm not the best 38 pilot, probably because the only time I fly it is when Geaux is on, which has been particularly sparse lately. However I think the 38 is an awsome platform, and flown correctly,  is very deadly.

But i've been wondering:

When was the S.A.P.P. created, and by whom?
How many members are there currently?
Is it from AW?
Do you have to be invited? (I assume so)

Well, since the 1st word in S.A.P.P. is Secret, I guess you will just have to keep wondering.

S.A.P.P. has been around for a bit over a year. Corky Jr started it up. There were a number of 38 squads and he thought it would be fun to get us all together now and then to "just wing it" !

Its made up of folks form all teams who love the 38, the history of it, and most importantly, are out to have fun !!! Sapp nights are a bunch of friends who get together just to have some fun. One SAPP night had every one load up heavy to go NOE and take a rear base, and hold it as long as we could against all comers. We never took the base, but seeing our goon drive most of a sector on the ground with out wings trying to get there made the night !!!

See you in the air !!!....or falling out of it..... or bouncing off the ground with one wing..... or with the blender knocked out of its housing.... pretty much were ever the fun is!  :t

I've always liked the 38, as a matter of fact, as a kid it was the first plane I ever knew by name........the LIGHTNING!

Of course then I discovered fighter aircraft and fell in love with the corsair!!!!:D

I always fly the P38, though, every once in a while I'll fly a different plane, and its just not the same. By the end of the day im always back in that 38.

it's more like a secret government agency, only our orders always end up in a blender making margaritas and our mission objectives were last seen in corky's 38...unfortunately it was on fire at the time, well first the plane, then the papers, though there may be some specualtion in this area (chicken and egg thing).  And also it doesn't appear to be that secret.  I believe using reverse psychology has failed us this time! or has it:noid

SAPP came about roughly the same time as I was blamed by a guy on country channel for ruining Aces High.  This was during the map changes

http://forums.hitechcreations.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=187249&highlight=ruining

about the same time AKAK and 38 drivers in general were accused of having undue influence with HTC.

Raptor in his wisdom came up with the name and I did the logo..  Since it's a secret, I really shouldn't be talking about it.

Murdr suggested having SAPP nights where the 38 drivers get together regardless of country affiliation, fly for the low numbers country and have some fun.

Lets just say it's all in fun and all part of the plot to overthrow HTC and make the game all about 38s and nothing else :)

As for who is 'in' SAPP, there are lots of guys.  They tend to spend time in the 38 in AH more then other birds, or have a strong interest in the history of the 38.

I'd tell you everyone on the list, but Raptor ate it, or Shuffler blended it.  Could be AKAK took it to alt and it drifted away or it got crushed under the wreckage of my 38G.......:huh

According to my calculations that I was able to gather through my super duper super computer, the membership list re-entered the Earth's atmosphere over Guam and should have burned up somewhere over Tahiti.  Can't be positive because I only have so many fingers and toes to do my calculations.

On a side note, I finally received my Gold Astronaut pin for the mission to hide the membership list in low Earth orbit.  It was a proud day for me and my fellow SAPP members.

And this is why, for you budding p38 pilots, it is so important to keep your hands away from props, more of them to worry about in a 38 vs. say a spit.  It's all fun and games until they day you can only count to 15 instead of 20....or worse.  With Acks' years of experience this is less of an issue, I just don't want any new guys losing any "counters" making such things as acks space flight just a dream.  Then again, it does seem to provide an answer for keeping our numbers safe.....:noid

Now I dont fly the 38 much, mainly because I end up very very dead very very quickly, but seeing as all you SAPP(ers) are here, what loadout do you lads take when furballing in it....

50% fuel ?
small or large ammo loadout.

And you do use it as a turn fighter right?

P.S. I am thinking alomg the lines of the L modle here

EDIT: and like skyrock said the 38 was one of the first WWII planes I knew by name

I, and many other SAPP's, like 50% with 1 or 2 DT's.  I prefer the J to the L but there are numerous threads that debae the relative merits of each.

Heavy gun loads usually, though i find that i rarely actually come close to running out.

I'll use it in any way that beats to other guy.  Though i suck so don't take my word for it...

SALP is Sodium Aluminum Phosphate. (http://dwb.unl.edu/Teacher/NSF/C12/C12Links/www.cosmocel.com.mx/english/c-leave.htm#sodium)

Quote
The SODIUM ALUMINUM PHOSPHATE also has an excellent buffering action for flour mixes, enhancing the properties of the formula ingredients. When using SODIUM ALUMINUM PHOSPHATE, the product is crunchy and has fine texture.
This explains why all kills on MjTalon have that satisfying, crunchy sensation.

I myself prefer the L over the J.

I 95% of the time carry 100.  If the fight is real close Ill grab 75 or 50 depending on how high they are coming in.

G, 50% and DTs, use DTs until I engage (or they run out, obviously)

J, either 50% and DTs like above, or 75% and burn the outer (aux) tanks first.

J ftw. 75%. Sometimes I take dt's and 50, but usually I forget to drop dt's, so I like to keep it simple:)  And yes, the 38 can furball.  Actually it can pretty much do anything you want it to...though not the best at anything....unless you account for style:)

I used to like the 38G but when they added the extra weight to it I just couldn't bring myself to fly it anymore. The G was a decent turner and matched my flight style but now with the extra 800lbs, it's nothing more than a J with out wep.

Now I just think they are nice too shoot at..

Usually take 75% fuel with a drop tank and full ammo load.  Yes, I turn fight in the P-38.

L is my favorite.... but I have been flying J the most lately. 75% sometimes with sometimes without DTs. If fight is very close I take 50% no DTs.

Don't believe it for a second :)

Just took a bit of readjusting.  Still turns on a dime.  Love that 38G :)

50 and 2 DTs for me most trips.
