yep... now that winter is here the whole "man made global warming" thing will be downplayed and "man made global climate change" will be talked about exclusively... when summer comes again it will again be "man made global warming"

It is hard to sell man made global warming and the need to add 2-5 bucks a gallon on heating oil to combat it when people are freezing and can't afford to heat their homes as it is.

Not to worry folks...it will warm up again in a freakish way like it did a few weeks ago and then we won't see this kind of thread again...until the weather cools down again.

It is sorta like clockwork.

LOL.. it's ummm... Winter.   Duh.

At least in the Northern Hemisphere.

Apparently, now a cold day in winter disproves all the research..

the Rio Grande freezing is a local weather phenomenon, it has nothing to do with manmade global warming/climate change, pay no attention to the man behind the curtain.

Ahh, a lot of the "research" has been disproven, but the global warning alarmists conveniently ignore that fact.

I am not saying global warming isn't a reality, but that when someone wants to consider or discuss the issue, at least it should be done in an honest manner considering all truths, not just the ones some choose to believe without questions.

Making such a broad statement as that, without providing any examples is dangerous.

Please show me some of these examples with next posting.  Also, be aware of the sources you quote from. My good friend Lazs will be along shortly to show you examples of those sources which aren't ;

A: scientific
B: peer reviewed.

..And he will claim them as "truths" because they fit his preconceived notions.

I look forward to your post.

I agree , I'm like you sure that 2000 ph.d in climatology are less competent in climatology than 20 000 ph.D in mechanic.

I didn't watch all of Al's movie (I like sci-fi but not fantasy), but I think he did briefly mention that C02 lags temp. IIRC,  He threw it in real quick saying that it's complicated and moved on as if he hadn't just said it.

In Al Gore's famous ice core data, showing the supposed correlation between temperature and CO2, what he neglected to say was that there was an 800 year time lag between a rise in global temperatures and the following rise in CO2. Yes, temperature goes up 800 years before CO2 levels rise.

straffo.. there are not 2000 scientists in climate science saying we are causing catastrophic man made global warming..

http://epw.senate.gov/public/index.cfm?FuseAction=Minority.Blogs&ContentRecord_id=f80a6386-802a-23ad-40c8-3c63dc2d02cb

most of the ones who signed the un joke are now recanting.   I think it is more like 7% of the scientists who believe it is real and a looming catastrophe.

It is sorta like this these days...

"Physicist John W. Brosnahan, who develops remote-sensing tools for clients like the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, says: "Of course I believe in global warming, and in global cooling -- all part of the natural climate changes that the Earth has experienced for billions of years, caused primarily by cyclical variations in solar output."

Brosnahan says he has "not seen any sort of definitive, scientific link to man-made carbon dioxide as the root cause of global warming, only incomplete computer models that suggest that this might be the case." Those models, he says, leave out too many variables.

Indeed, a study in the Royal Meteorological Society's International Journal of Climatology looked at 22 computer models used by the IPCC. Most of the models couldn't even predict the past.

Predictably, after a quick review of the report, Gore spokeswoman Kalee Kreider said 25 to 30 of the scientists may have received funding from Exxon Mobil (NYSE:XOM) , though she didn't name which scientists she thinks were bribed to distort the truth. Wise move.

This is not like Al Gore getting 75 hours of free airtime on NBC, a unit of General Electric (NYSE:GE) , which stands to make wads of cash on things like solar panels and wind turbines. Or Gore being involved with a company that sells carbon offsets.

Heartland Institute senior fellow James Taylor has noted that more than 600 scientists at the Bali gathering could have debunked Gore's warming theories, but the U.N. "censored" them.

By the way, Gore and his statist friends in Europe repeatedly have criticized the U.S. for its "failure to act" on warming. But new data show the U.S. in 2006 slashed output of greenhouse gases by 1.3%, while Europe's output continued to grow. So who's failing to act?"

We used to have snow from early December to mid March or so...

Now we've had two about 2-3 day periods of snow. Xmas was black. Its been raining most January and today my kids went biking and I raked some leaves from green grass :(

Yes, I truly begin to believe in global warming. I've never seen a "winter" like this.

Completely un-true.. I'm not searching for conspiracy.  I love my country more than my own life.  My family has 3 plots filled in Arlington.  Questioning is not anti-american.. it is what it means TO BE American.

I simply question the rationale most Americans render for their facts.  Give one vaguely science based talk in america and tell me what happens...I already know.  Half of this country still wholeheartedly believes the planet is 6,000 years old.  Half the time if i talk about the evolution of an organism..it turns into a fight.

On this administration....You have me there.

I find it incredulous that you can't question it after all the lies.  You should expect more.

I bit ironic that it was I who suggested there are questions about the global warming theory, and you attacked me for it, taking the posture that global warming is a fact and I shouldn't allow for questions on the matter.

Ironic may not be the right word, hypocritical would probably fit better in the context of this thread and your latest post.

You are completely right in questioning... yet to question it you must have a baseline understanding...and not just belch up a position you feel is right, and then go looking for support for it.

That isn't how science works.

I am also in Michigan. I used to have hot water heat. Boiler quit last night. Replaced blown fuse which immediately blew again and let the smoke out of the Aquastat. Trying to keep warm with just the oven on an a electric heater. The 24 hour emergency service means "we can get there tomorrow". Called at 6:00 PM last night, he got here at 10:30 this morning. He has been here 3 hours now and still no heat. :(

And, I'll add... I asked for what questions you have.. what points you dispute...

To which you posted the infamous 17,000 scientists paper.....

Ummm...like it's been said before... I want you to look at the credits to that paper and find out how many come back proper.  A large proportion of them couldn't name a Stratocumulous cloud out of a lineup.... their degrees are all over the place.  I posted a link to one of them earlier in this monster... he works with a textile mill... he makes new forms of wool.

moray.. there is a list of the people that signed the petition.   They are not all scientists they just have advanced degrees.. like you..  they have every bit as much right as you do to voice their opinion and... they are every bit as educated as you are.   most... more so.    You constantly rant that only a person as educated (the level never being mentioned) as you are can understand science and make a rational view.

These guys are as educated and more than you.. and they think it is bunk.

A US senate report shows that over 400 of the most prominent scientists on the planet dispute man made global warming.

Summary repeat: Those left of center automatically believe it, (as the US and capitalism is stated to be behind it) no questions asked, while those right of center are very dubious, for the same reason.  All the other arguments cloud the origin of  the afore-mentioned(http://chat.anncoulter.com/phpBB2/images/smiles/155.gif)

Of course.. it is obvious to all that it is the left who have the most to gain by the whole man made global warming scam.

I like that on "earth day" senator inhofe asked all the hollywood celebrities and rich liberals and specifically..  algore..  to take the pledge!

http://epw.senate.gov/public/index.cfm?FuseAction=Minority.Pledge

it asks them to say......

"During the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee hearing on March 21, 2007, “Vice President Al Gore’s Perspective on Global Warming,” former Vice President Al Gore refused to take a “Personal Energy Ethics Pledge” to consume no more energy than the average American household"

Just like the commies all had villas and maids and lived like capitalists..  the algors all want to live like royalty while making you suffer.   They won't even pledge to consume as little as you do now... yet.. they want you to use less.
