If the guy wants to walk or run somewhere, you don't  need a bike to do it.   Just jump off the thing and get going.

Try coasting down hill next time you go for a run.

On my bicycle I have brakes and a freewheeling (coasting) abliity.  The treadmill might have that ability as well.

Still, I think that I will stay with my bike.
