Title: Anyone watch BREAKING BAD on AMC last night?
Post by: SIG220 on January 21, 2008, 06:09:39 AM
It was really something quite different.  Very dark humor, but I really enjoyed it.  At least the plot is not quite as outlandish as the previews looked, as it actually is believable to a point.   At least much better than a lot of other TV programs.

The part when he killed the two Mexican Meth dealers who were trying to take over their lab was really something.   That Smith and Wesson model 645 was a pretty awesome gun, too.

Thought about checking it out....but kinda got used to the Sunday night History Channel thing.  You know, worry about the galatic situation that will kill us all in 3000-9000 years in the future  :)

(Serisously, The 5th Element was on....like that movie!)

The g/f & I both loved the show. Can't wait for next week.

"It's art!"
"No, it's science."

I've got a S&W 645. Darn thing shoots way low for me due to the grip geometry, otherwise it's a nice pistol.

It's about a chemist that contributed to a nobel prize winning project. He's a highschool teacher who has to have a weekend job at a car-wash to take care of his wife and crippled son. He just turned 50, and finds out he has lung cancer, and only a few months to live.

He goes for a ride-along with his brother-in-law, a DEA agent, and sees how much money is involved in crystal meth.

He starts cooking up the most perfect "glass" anybody has ever seen.

It goes downhill fast from there.

You're right, the commercials were pretty horrible. In fact, thinking about it, the commercials are basically the opening minute of the series... that's it. It started off with that scene, the smoking rv, him in his underwear talking into the camcorder, then flashes back and starts telling the story.

I personally thought it was some terrorist drama, but now that I've watched it... I'd say it's more like "Weeds" from Showtime, but without the humor & way more intensity.

edit... scratch that about the humor.. there are some really funny moments in the show, but it's outweighed by the drama & action big time.

Smith and Wesson has actually discontinued production of the model 645, as well as many other metal frame semiauto models.

Their main emphasis is now on the new M&P series, as well as their 1911 clones.  Expect for more of the older metal frame models to end production soon as well.

The new M&P series is outstanding in quality and features, and clearly superior to the Block pistol from Austria.

I missed it but I now have it in que on DVR. I had high hopes for this from the first previews I saw. Interesting premise and a good cast. I hope the writing is up to par.

sig.. anyone who has used their earlier semi autos will never own another smith semi auto.  59 was probly the worst gun ever.    I have shot a 645 and it jammed with all 3 mags and every brand of ammo we tried.   Their cheapo 22 won't even function out of the box.   even with their political clout.. I don't think block has anything to worry about.

Did anyone else notice that AMC showed two differant cuts of the show Sunday night?

The first airing had scenes that were deleted or changed in the second airing.

most doctors agree that a fear of weapons is a sexual dissfunction.

although.....I did buy a henry rifle today and noticed my noodle has grown another inch.   I am going to have to stop buying guns or get custom tailored pants.
