Title: Thompson out
Post by: Airscrew on January 22, 2008, 01:37:16 PM
Ol' Fred dropped out today...

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080122/ap_on_el_pr/thompson

Vice-President Thompson?

Quote
In the statement, Thompson did not say whether he would endorse any of his former rivals. He was one of a handful of members of Congress who supported Arizona Sen. John McCain in 2000 in his unsuccessful race against George W. Bush for the party nomination.

Sad news to me... If I hear one more RINO evoke the name of Reagan (This means YOU, Mr McCain) I am going to go on a rampage!

Thompson has been spending time with his mother who is aged and ill.  I just wish Thompson had been more energetic in the campaign and had not been ignored and bashed by all of the MSM (Fox News included)

Get ready for 30 Million new illegal aliens and an economic downturn!

Thompson did his job and kept Huckabee from winning in SC.  I would not be surprised to see McCain offer the VP position to Thompson.  I would think they could do quite well against any team the Democrats could put together.

At first glance, I'd vote for that team.  Still wish Thompson got in earlier, he could have had a much stronger run.

I hadnt thought of it that way, but if thats the case, would it not have made sense to stay until after Florida and maybe even Texas

Exactly... Thompson already had an organization in Florida.  Thompson would not be on a McCain ticket... they are miles and miles apart politically... of course so were Reagan and Bush (GHWB)

That was a great come back on the "I don't play raise the hand games."

Agreed. If nothing else, to see how many votes he could get, and what effects he'd have had.

I think Fred Thompson and Duncan Hunter should start today, and run as Independents.

Im gonna jump off my mountain if he endorses McCain....I mean, I understand they are friends and all, but Fred would have to throw most of his beliefs out the window if he does that. Take away pro-life, pro-WOT from McCain, and what's left is Hillary:O

I hear they rounded up the swiftboatboys to say McCain was a sympathizer and actually lived in a Hanoi penthouse.

All the choices left are RINOs... nothing republican about them... mccain=obama=hillary=edwards=romney etc etc etc

why vote for the elephant when it is a ******* in disguise?

To say there is nothing Republican about them is false.  I'll take 30% conservative over the Democrat's 100% liberal if those are my only choices.

Even a token (R) in the White House means the possibility of some of the more whacky left-wing ideas being blocked.

I'd rather go with the possibility than guarantee a win for Billary or Obama that will with 100% certainty raise taxes.

It is annoying to have to choose the lesser of two evils in elections, but if the lesser is tolerable, I will take it over letting the intolerable one win.

There has not been a conservative in the whitehouse in 19 years.  There have been many CLAIMS and such of conservatism to get there... but no delivery of advertised goods.
