"Wants to raise funds for..."

I'm really getting tired of seeing that.  What a polite way of saying 'extortion'.

They ride the wave of our money, of course they're going to tax anything they can. Especially those things we are least likely to complain about their grubby hands grabbing, the luxuries.

you couldn't be more spot on!

"for the better good of the society"... basic message lately, a lot like some other manifesto "A public declaration of principles, policies, or intentions, especially of a political nature. - for those not knowing the true meaning of it"

bah, meh, whatever, I don't want to waste my time ranting about people like her.

A Democratic lawmaker in New Mexico wants to tax televisions and video games to raise funds to fight childhood obesity and improve education in the state, officials said Friday.

Just buy your kid a new Nintendo Wii and Leapfrog.

Problem solved

I wonder if R.P. would do anything to help persuade the states to do something about their money grubbing ways?

At least 30 states are running deficits. I can assure you, 10 years from now  we'll be telling our kids and grandkids about the "good ole days"...when the internet was free.

Thats right. Just keep voting for the same old people reguardless of party
without even considering those other then the two biggies and you will always end up with the same old results.

Saw a good quote that fits.

"If you keep using the same ingredients you will always end up making the same cake.

If you want a different cake you have to use different ingredients"

if they can't license it, tax it or regulate it they'll eventually ban it.  Look at New York City and California.  that is all they know, bigger and bigger government, whether it is federal, state or local. the long, sticky fingers like a pickpocket in your liberty.

And the funny thing is, this republican administration (who's core values are lower taxes and smaller government)  has the largest federal government we've seen.  Amazing, isn't it.?

Not really. The current administration is not conservative, nor, apparently, is the current Republican party leadership given the candidates they are supporting. In fact, for some time both parties have had far more in common than they have differences (where a big nanny state government is concerned), with just a slightly different approach as to which set of special interests get the most pork bounty.

I certainly wouldn't expect Hillary or Obama to reverse this trend, or for that matter Rudy McRomnabee.

The funny thing is alot of you scoffed when I posted the story about the "Texas Sin Tax"

A tax on strip clubs that aided female victoms of violent crime and sexual abuse.

This is just another example of the new democrats!

meh...

I saw that one.

i am a Christian, and I am sorry but a "sin" tax?? WHOSE "sin"? we got Christians, catholic, muslims, buddhists, voodoo, mormon, jewish, hindus, rastafarians, scientologists, pagans, atheists, and a munge of others in the US.

"thou shalt not kill" MAYBE is the only universal "sin" in all of them (or some form of it).

I believe in what is right and wrong in my faith, but to make laws based on mine? anothers?

you want a "sin" law or tax make it on the buddhist thought of any creature is equal. that tiger in SF, the cops that killed it are convicted of murder. it's that simple. "sex" as a whole has different meanings, and "laws" across every culture in the world. you want to enforce 1 part of the worlds rules on all us Americans, then make it a rule that the lowest common denominator follows, otherwise you will have a mess...

oops you already do.

but they're not Democrats, so it don't matter.  As long as it's not a democrat...  America will be just dandy as long as we don't let a Democrat in.
