Thought this was a neat topic before.  How did you get your name or what does it mean?

I got mine from the P-51B "Beantown Banshee".  So share yours :)

Rogentx

I used to have the name Rogent in Delta Force II.....

I had account that my ID was  'Rogent' but due to no money I lost that account and ID

so same name with the x - I guess the x would be short for extreme

As for where I came up with the name Rogent, no clue - just thought it up

I was singing 'Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band' back in gr.9, accidentally saying 'Sgt. Pappy's lonely etc...'. My geography classmate heard me say 'Sgt. Pappy's' and duly corrected me while at the same time, making fun of me up until and including now.

When we got Aces High and we couldnt make up names, he got a bright idea to call me Sgt. pappy.

Edit: Also I played AH for about 6 months back in 05 and this time I had to use trax1.

When I was younger my favorite Winnie the Pooh character was Eeyor.  Fast forward to when the first Shreck movie came out.  My sister was watching it on the tv and so was my dad and I.  It kind of reminded him about that and he called me donkey because that's what Shreck called donkey lol.

Anyways, every time my dad see's me he calls me donkey or goes ehhee hawww (like a donkey sound), so naturally I choose that for my name.

Oh, and I'm not just any old donkey, I'm DA Donkey (like the; surprising how many people just call me D.A. donkey like the arena :huh :huh  lol).

gavagai = the philosopher W.V. Quine's name for undetached rabbit parts, or rabbit time slices, which are possible interpretations of a jungle native's utterance of "gavagai" and that are also equivalent to our word "rabbit."

This group of guys at America Online where I worked would hang out in the smoking section talking about WW2 fighters and wagging their hands in mock combat.  I listened to them for a couple days, and finally asked them what they were talking about.

They told me about this online game called "AirWarrior" and that night I went home and decided to check it out.

I don't remember what name I was trying to get.  It kept saying: "Name in use, would you like to have XXXX instead" and gave me a list of names that I didn't want.

I sat there for 10min trying to find a name and eventually said "heck with it" and picked one on the names on the "suggested" list screen figuring i'd change it later.

That name was Lute.

Never did get around to changing it.

Xasthur is a band.

In game, I am Archaius.

My internet tag stems from the word 'Archaic' which means 'old'.

As such it is pronounced 'Arr - Kay - Us'

Given that I fly with a bunch of Aussies all the time I get called 'Arch' most of the time, which suits me just fine.

Title: Meanings of Names
Post by: Ghosth on January 27, 2008, 06:51:25 AM
I came up the back side of the path back in Warbirds. First flying H2H, then Fighter Ops beta's, had a variety of names, mostly starting with Ghost.

Ended up with most of them going to ghost- or ghostt.

Went to move over here to AH and I was ready for a change. I had an idea, I'll go Ghost Hawk

Well back then 6 letters was the limit I was experimenting with different spellings. Had just tried GhostH and wasn't fond of it when the phone rang. Cat jumps off my lap, hits the keyboard, smacks the return key and GhostH I was from then forward.

Its amazing how that one little H trips peoples tongues up.
So rather than tell everyone about the cat, and the missing "awk" I just said the H is silent.

So if you see me in game just call me Ghost don't worry about that "H", its just hanging there following me around, hoping for a free meal. I've been just plain "Ghost" to all my squadies for so long. And that H has been following me for years now, so I don't even think about it.

Besides, who knows who I'd of turned out to be if I had gone with

Ghsthk, Ghothk, or GstHwk!
Title: Meanings of Names
Post by: FBplmmr on January 27, 2008, 06:51:51 AM
When I started flying in AW you could only have 5 characters in your name.

In those days I was in pool construction, primarily the plumbing, so I became Plmr$.

The '$' indicated I was a member of the 'FREEBIRD$' squadron.

When I tracked down some of the old squadies to AHII  2 years ago, they now do the 'FB' before the name, so I just threw in an extra 'm' to keep folks from calling me 'palmer'.

I'm no longer a plumber but it still sounds cooler than Document Imaging Systems Technician' or 'Records Division guy' :D
Title: Meanings of Names
Post by: Caz1 on January 27, 2008, 07:01:18 AM
I had a similar experience to WMLute.  Back in the mid-to-late '90s I played Air Warrior on the old AOL "pay to play" routine where you paid by the hour for AW becaue it was considered a "premium game".  I came across an add for it on AOL and, since I enjoy flight sims, I thought I'd check it out.

When I tried to create my name, everything was already taken - and every bastardization of anything I wanted was also taken.  Finally I tried to come up with a word that I thought would be short, and easy for my fellow flyboys to say or type and the first thing I tried, "Caz1", was accepted.

I flew under that call sign for the C-land team for several years.  Wound up joining the "Grim Reapers" squad flying under Pappi right before the end.  Then EA bought out Air Warrior and attempted to "upgrade" it.  Shortly thereafter life ended as we know it (they killed the game).

Some years later, when I learned of Aces High 2, I tried my old call sign and got it.  So I've stayed Caz1.  Name means nothing, and sounds like everything else. :aok

Post by: oboe on January 27, 2008, 07:44:53 AM
Oboe goes back to Warbirds, too, almost 10 years in and out of flight sims now.

A familiar situation for new players; all the cool names were taken so I decided I would take as a handle a short, two syllable code word from WWII.

"Oboe" was the first one I tried, a code word for some kind of British radio direction finding gear, which apparently sounded like the musical instrument when operating.

Like a bad nickel, it keeps coming back...
Title: Meanings of Names
Post by: helbent on January 27, 2008, 07:55:24 AM
My first go-round in Aces High, I flew under the name of piston (for my love of WWII aircraft).  I flew for about a month or so under that name.  I chose to defend bases at all costs against the horde.  It was very painful =).  I began to tire of taking on 30 guys by myself all the time and wondered why I was'nt getting much help with defence.  So I decided to return to WB, but quickly became disenchanted with their management once again.

Coming back to Aces High, I knew what I was in for and wanted to choose a name that symbolized how I fought.  Helbent! against the masses!!  Since then I have somewhat changed my style, but I still am helbent when on somesones 6, despite what is behind me (sometimes).  Case in point stick stirrers, I believe they all should die, so I try my best to kill them no matter the outcome for me.

Helbent

Back in the day I played a lot of hockey ... left defense ... and I worked very hard on making my slapshot my bread and butter ... hard, fast, and hits like a train.

Every time I played a new team, whenever I got the chance for a slapshot at the blue line, I would not necessarily aim for getting a goal, I would aim for one of the opposing team members with the intent of sending a message.

After a few of those got unleashed, every time I wound up ... it was like the parting of the Red Sea and I had a clear shot at the goal.

After awhile, when walking into a rink, I could hear some of the opposing team players say ...

Hey ... there's that SlapShot guy !!!

Well...one day I was watching top gun, and after the movie was over I saw the commercial for AH2. I installed the game, and I had no clue what I was doing, so I made my callsign "boby". I played my first 2 weeks and quit. A year later my parents let me get back on the game. I wanted "Maverick" but it was taken, so I went with "spikes", (former Buffalo Bills player Takeo Spikes). I played my time for about a year. I had to quit over the summer. I started "SpikesX" when I got back and played for a few months, but I couldn't pay for it. Now I am under "MstWntd". Yup.

<--- (Full spelling: "Thunderegg")

It was just a name I drummed up at FlaydONE's house when he introduced me to Aces High (1) over four years ago. It reflects one characteristic about where we live. I thought it sounded cool, and anymore, in regards to the game, it takes on a whole new meaning for me especially when delivering heavy ordnance to the enemy.

"A thunderegg (or thunder egg) is a geological structure, similar to a geode, that is formed within a rhyolitic lava flow. Thundereggs are not actually rocks, but rather geologic nodules which occur within other igneous rocks."

"According to Pacific Northwest native legend, the Thunder Spirits lived at the highest reaches of Mount Hood and Mount Jefferson, and when they became angry at each other, they threw these spherical rocks at each other."

I picked up my name in 98 when I started to play AW.I was reading a book called "JG26 Top Guns Of The Luftwaffe" at the time.I happen to be reading a part about Joseph Priller. They said he had a great sence of humor and was a good guy and all so I used his nickname.I personalized it a bit by using a Z instead of a S.He shot down something like 101 Allied aircraft all on the western front. He is the highest scoring Luftwaffe pilot againts Spitfires. He was never shot down and was said to be a well liked leader and a great tactician.

I found this game then. I was the REP0MAN. Now I work for a major Cable ISP. I could change my name but everyone knows me as Rep0. So, Rep0 it stayed.

The phrase "Roger Dodger" originated during World War II, and was verbally circulated throughout the United States military as a part of a mildly amusing story about a pilot or soldier that added his own flair to radio phraseology. The punch line of this story is, "Roger Dodger, you old codger!"

my uncle was Roger Dodger

In Game - Karaya.    "Karaya-One" was Hartmann's call sign.

BBS name is a little bit more complicated.

Masherbrum - Masherbrum is a mountain that lies within the "Masherbrum Mountains", which is a subgroup of the Karakoram (K2). My buddy Erich (since 7th grade) and I were planning on going into Alpine Ascents International in the Summer of 98. This mountain was picked a few years prior. In Dec of 1997, he was in a car accident and was in a coma for a month. I flew out to Portland (Tigard) in Jan of 98. He already knew he was the best man at my wedding. The wife and I decided he wouldn't be replaced and the rings would be given to the Pastor, had he been not able to attend. But, he re-learned to walk, and move again by the time our wedding rolled around. I shelved climbing altogether in 1998, because it wasn't "fun anymore" because of this.

I have tried to find handles that signify something connected to WWII aviation. I was Clover, a squadron callsign, and Cement, another squadron callsign. I was UpSun for a very short time.

In WWII a brand new replacement pilot was a "Sprog"

A pilot who'd survived several missions was a "Sport"

And someone who'd survived many missions was an "OldSport"

The main man was a "Wheel" (It will be a while till I get there)

The squadron patch for my avatar comes from VMF-112 that I believe was third ranked VMF of WWII, and later eventually became VMFA-112, which I served with in the 70's.

Hey Angus, my dad had a small herd of Black Angus when I was a kid. We'd climb up on the fence and they'd come over and lick the soles of our shoes, lol.

Post by: Hornet33 on January 28, 2008, 04:46:58 PM
Mine got stuck on me way back in High School. Back then I drove around in an old POS brown Toyota SR-5 pickup. A buddy of mine got his car stuck in some mud one night and I offered to try and pull him out. Several of my other friends were there and everyone told me there was no way my little 2WD truck was going to pull a Chevy Nova out of the mud. Long story short I got his car out on the first try.

Well they nicknamed my truck the Brown Hornet from the old Fat Albert cartoon. Not long after that I got involved with the local CB radio club and used Hornet as my CB handle since I was still driving the "Brown Hornet" at the time.

After I joined the Army National Guard I got a tattoo of a Hornet on my left shoulder. Named my HEMTT M-985 truck over in Desert Storm the "Brown Hornet II" seeing as how it was painted desert tan.

Since then I've always had that nickname / handle. The 33 is how old I was when I started playing AHII, hence Hornet33 here in the game.

The original Japanese voices were oh-so-much better.

Before I started AH I tried to set up an online account with MS CFS2.  I started out with basic airplane/WW2 names, but kept getting the message that the name was already in use.

Eventually, I tried a name based on a different pastime- Mountainman.

I've always been a frontier history, archaeology, primitive living buff.  I tan deer hides with their brains, build and shoot flintlock rifles and muskets, camp in a tipi, participate in fur trade "re-enactments" called rendezvous, knap stone arrowheads from chert, flint, and obsidian, throw knives and tomahawks, etc...

When I came to AH, I just figured I'd use the same name, but it wouldn't fit so I shortened it.

Post by: Ack-Ack on January 31, 2008, 04:31:15 AM
Way back in a bygone era, before the Lighting, I was a dedicated FW190A-8 driver.  I had just finished reading one of BulletHead's write ups on energy fighting and was anxious to practice what I read.

I noticed a 'dar bar near the Spitfire factory, figured it was a Death Star and climbed to meet it.  Turned out it was a Bzlander in a Bf109E, slightly above and heading right towards me.

Now by this time in my flight sim career, I had only about 3-4 months experience from my short time in AWDOS on Genie and I had just re-discovered AW on AOL and started flying again.  Was going by the name MBong "Major Bong" (no, not a reference to the P-38 ace) during that time.

Anyway, back to the fight.  We fought for over 10 minutes until I managed to hit him with my cannons.  As he was floating down in his chute, I was starting to type a to him on open channel.  Up to that point, it was the best fight I ever had, a real white knuckle fight.  Felt pretty good too, I remember feeling that I had accomplished a milestone, I was no longer "fodder".

Then I saw his comments on open channel.

"You fly like *****"

I remember thinking it was really funny and laughed.  Logged off afterwards and then got the idea to change my CPID but obviously the Kesmoids wouldn't allow S**T or any other variation of the word, so I had to figure out a way to get past that and AKAK was born.  Threw in the handle Ack-Ack to "complete the disguise".

Post by: Flayed1 on January 31, 2008, 08:41:38 AM
Back when I first found AH1 I was playing Warhammer 40K a bunch and ran a Necron army and the Flayed ones were one of my favorit units in it...

They are brutal warrriors, armed only with razor-sharp claws, that easily cut through the toughest skins and armours.

They are twisted and ghoulish terrors, as they advance before the force, much like Scouts. They are stooped with age but are disturbingly agile. To make their terror worse, they adorn themselves with the flesh of those they have killed. This enables them to spread fear throughout the enemy army as their own dead effectively advance on the front lines. Even in combat warriors are terrified of them, making it hard for them to react and hit the Flayed Ones, giving the Flayed Ones the chance to mow down all in front of them. Correct me if I'm wrong.  Anyway, was setting up a new account and Effect was the name of the Rage Against the Machine song I was listening too.

I always liked Chewbacca. In game, I'm A8Chewie. A8 being my squad uniform, Aces & Eights. The name Chewie is also my real-life "nick-name" given to me by some old co-workers. I had pretty long, dark brown hair and a thick full beard at the time. I came in late for work one morning and my hair was a mess and all over the place. ByHeck, not as many interoperate my call sign ( By Check {I use a credit card like most of us}) comes from my father.

After he retired in the late 70s, he returned to his youthful poetic nurturing.  He would read his poetry at various senior citizens locations around the local area.  He was never officially published; however he did make up [photo copied & folded to 5.5”x8.5”] booklets that he gave out to the audience members.  He signed the booklets, “by heck!’.

The family also operated a small craft business for over 25 years, known as “Crafts Byheck!”.  Currently we run a Herbalife business, and you guessed correctly, it is licensed as Herbalife Byheck [ http://www.shopherbalife.com/byheck ]

I am just carrying on a family tradition.

Back in the day of Air Warrior, I was known as =M= which meant Marauder to the people who knew me. Even though my Squadron  buddies of 11 years, Confederate Knights, still refer to me as =M=, I needed a change from the single syllable name.

My deep interest for World War 2 lead me to look for a name to represent something of that war. Along came came ENIGMA;The German Code Machine.
It was fitting I gravitated to that name because I also enjoy the music by Enigma.

In AH, Enigma was taken so I looked for another version which led me to the Latin spelling of Enigma as aenigma. I did not capitalize the "A" as it would have looked funny to me.

ENIGMA

Main Entry:
    enig·ma
Pronunciation:
    \i-ˈnig-mə, e-\
Etymology:
    Latin aenigma

BTW, I have yet to find the owner of Enigma in AH but have seen other variants in the game.

Ingame CPID is Bazi, in honour of Robert "Bazi" Weiß (21 April 1920 – 29 December 1944) Gruppenkommandeur III/JG54.

Biography
Robert "Bazi" Weiß was born on 21 April 1920 in Baden, Austria. In the beginning of his military career he served with a flak regiment before transferring to learn to fly in early 1940. In early 1941, Leutnant Weiß was a pilot with 6 Staffel, Jagdgeschwader 26 flying on the Channel Front. He claimed a Supermarine Spitfire shot down in September 1941. In September 1942, Weiß was transferred to 1 Staffel, JG 54, based on the Eastern Front flying operations on the Leningrad front. His victory score grew slowly, and by April 1943 had claimed just 30 victories. Falling ill in May 1943 he was hospitalised until July 1943 when he was made Staffelkapitän 3./JG 54. On 2 August 1943, he was awarded the German Cross in Gold. By October he had 68 claims and was Staffelkapitän 10./JG 54. He received the Ritterkreuz for 98 claims in March 1944.

In May 1944, Weiß was transferred to III./JG 54 engaged in Defense of the Reich missions against the USAAF bombing offensive, although in June the unit transferred to the Invasion Front with Weiss as appointed Gruppenkommandeur. Under Hauptmann Weiß, III./JG 54 became the most successful fighter unit over the Invasion Front, claiming some 100 Allied aircraft shot down for the loss of 50 of its own aircraft in combat. By August, when the unit was withdrawn from operations for re-equipment, Weiss himself was credited with 118 victories. III./JG 54 re-equipped with the Fw 190 D-9, becoming the first operational Gruppe of the Luftwaffe to receive the 'Dora-9'. On 28 September Weiss shot down a Spitfire of 541 Squadron as the first confirmed victory of the Fw 190 D-9. On 29 December 1944, III./JG 54 were ordered up against RAF fighter-bombers in the Osnabrück, Münster and Rheine areas. Weiß led the Stab, III/JG 54 and 11./JG 54 into a large formation of Spitfires from 331 and 501 Squadrons. None of Weiß's Schwarm returned, with 17 aircraft lost and 13 pilots, including Weiss, killed while claiming six fighters.

The personality of Robert Weiss can be seen in the following exchange with the Paris ground controller:

Weiss: "Thanks Primadonna! You have driven us into a damned wild boar wallow this time. But Rube Anton (call sign for III Gruppe commander) attacks. Out."

Primadonna: "Wait till other cyclists (friendly fighters) can come to help."

Weiss: "The enemy won't wait any longer. My last request to you is to shut up and play a good record. With hot music we can bank better!"

Under Weiss' leadership, III Gruppe was the most successful fighter unit over the Invasion Front, claiming over 150 Allied planes.

It is assumed that Weiss was shot down in Fw 190 D-9 (W.Nr. 210 060) "Black 10" by Flight Sergeant Haanes of 331 (Norwegian) Squadron, RAF near Lingen. He was posthumously awarded the Oak Leaves on 12 March 1945.

"Bazi" Weiss is officially credited with 121 aerial victories in claimed 471 missions. 26 of his victories were claimed over the Western Front. Included in his total are 40 Il-2 Sturmoviks, 12 Spitfires and five P-38 Lightnings.

When I started AH I chose it because it was easy to remember. If I could change it, it would be MIP or something now.

BigRat came after I started restoring big block corvettes.  My first Vette was a 73 454 4spd coupe (still have it).  Since it was a 454 car we always refered to it as the big rat, since it was the biggest production engine placed in a vette. For those of you that aren't car guys a big block chevy is referred to as a "RAT" motor.    So that's how I came up with BigRat.

I stumbled onto Aces High, shortly after watching one of my all time favorite movies, " The Great Waldo Pepper " . When asked for a name, I
chose Waldo, and couldn't believe it wasn't taken.

I had a bit of a break between Aces High, and Aces High II, as my old
computer was not up to snuff. Rejoined as  Wald0.

Oh Ya, the 'Where's Waldo ?' thing is always good for a Chuckle .

The whole conversation was pretty funny and it stuck with me so I shortened it to Mims, Mentally Impaired Mutant Shooter.

The day I signed on to AH I wanted a new name but couldnt think of one but had dinner on the table waiting and I was "Hungry" so...  seemed as good as any I could think of so thats what it ended up being.

The king doth keep his revels here to-night:
Take heed the queen come not within his sight;
For Oberon is passing fell and wrath,
Because that she as her attendant hath
A lovely boy, stolen from an Indian king;
She never had so sweet a changeling;
And jealous Oberon would have the child
Knight of his train, to trace the forests wild;
But she perforce withholds the loved boy,
Crowns him with flowers and makes him all her joy:
And now they never meet in grove or green,
By fountain clear, or spangled starlight sheen,
But, they do square, that all their elves for fear
Creep into acorn-cups and hide them there.

Post by: Slamfire on March 11, 2008, 04:41:43 PM
From wiki: "A slamfire is a premature, unintended discharge of a firearm that occurs as a round is being loaded into the chamber."

I learned what the term meant one fine day at an outdoor rifle range - this kid had a very tac'ted out, but dubious/beatup/rusty SKS rifle that he had purchased at a gun show.  At the moment of truth, he was afraid to shoot it for the first time - I offered to make the first shot for him, figuring "What the hell could happen ?  Either it goes 'Bang' or it does not".

Well, the rifle had 30 rounds loaded (it was a Chinese D model with an AK mag) , and it went full uncontrolled auto until all of 'em were fired - I just held the rifle as hard as I could, down range, and sweated it out until it was all over.  Thankfully nobody got hurt, but I sure got an earful from the range boss  :O

Lessons learned :
- Never shoot a stranger's weapon
- Always CLOSELY inspect any firearm you shoot - both inside and out.
- Always make sure ONLY one round is loaded when test firing for the first time.
- Always check that a free floating firing pin "rattles" before loading.
- Never volunteer
 :D

Long Story here:

Back in High School all my friends call me Byro (real name is Brian).   Well all within a 24 hour period this is what happened:

I went to my job and was working at Taco Bell and was having a smoke and thought I extinguished my cigarette completely and empty the ashtray.  Well apparently I didn't and next thing we all know there is smoke pouring out the trash bin.

Later that after noon I get a call at work and it's the Midland Fire Department apparently there was an electrical fire in the bathroom of my apartment but not to worry they got it before ruining "too much" of my stuff.

So I get back to my apartment and I only stuff in my bathroom got ruined no biggie my guitar equipment and such were fine.

So I go to a party that night (keep in mind this is the time when fringed jeans were popular).  I see my buddy with talking to someone by the pool and I decide to be funny and give him a hotseat (using a lighter to burn them through there cloths just go see how long it takes to get a reaction).

Yep I got his attention when all the fringed strings hanging off his jeans erupted in flames.  He jumped in the pool and was fine, but from that day on instead of being called Byro I'm now Pyro by all my friends.  This was all in one freaking day.  Bad day that was, funny now though.

Unfortunately Pyro was taking so I was Pyroman, but let my account lapse so now I'm Pyro71 (year I was born).

Phew!

When I first got online it was through AOHell.  Even way back then you needed to have numbers with your name as everything was taken.  Since the P-38 is has always been my favorite plane, and I've always liked the looks of the YP-38, I thought of the Warren M. Bodie book "The Lockheed P-38 Lightning."  He mentioned that the factory workers at the Lockheed plant started calling the YP-38s, "Yippee38s."  It worked, and I stuck with it.

I registered with the forums as oTRALFZo, when I flew with the screaming devils. My ID now is Tralfazz, aka.. Astro the jetson's dog. If anyones as old as I am you can remember the old episode when he found out he had previous owners and that was his name that he hated.
I believe his actual words were "Tralfazz? ...  Tralfazz? ... YUCK!" :D

My wife and her whole family are big time holy roller pentecostals and always bug the hell out of me to go to church.    I tried it a few times but just can't get into it.      I chose Heretic just to pizz off my wife and mother in law.

Tried to keep with the Trigger line... but that...didn't work :D

Had a great uncle in WWII (p38 pilot) get shot down and his callsign was "Trigger" along with his nickname, so I took that and made Trigger2

Later adapted to TAsTrig TA's refering to TA57x who taught me to fly, shoot, and run.

Now it's CAPOR042...

Civil Air Patrol OR. Squadron 042...

It would be interesting to find out more on the exact plane he flew, and skin it for Aces High.

The thing is he was never in the same plane twice he would go from plane to plane, and he was never in any famous planes so that makes it even harder to try and find something.

Yea, that is true, my sister's Grand Father flew P-51D's and flew 3 different models of them. There actually is a pretty famous painting of when he got wounded (got his arm nearly halved by 20mm flack by flying low to look at a horse drawn wagon to make sure he wasn't strafing civilians). The only time I was ever at my sister's Dads house was a long time ago, but it does show when he got wounded.

That's funny. :rofl  When I was in college, the Jehovah's Witnesses would come around the dorm and make everybody generally uncomfortable. When they asked me what faith I was, I told them I was a "Reformed Druid", and that we worshiped lettuce and light bulbs. Man, they couldn't wait to get away from me. :D

Mirage is not thrilled about being an Autobot freedom fighter. Prefers hunting turbofoxes on Cybertron with his high-priced friends. Effective fighter, more effective intelligence gatherer. Electro-disrupter can cast illusions altering his physical placement and appearance for up to 6 minutes. Expert marksman with armor-piercing rocket-dart hunting rifle. Unsure of Autobot Cause... can't be fully trusted.

Rogentx

I used to have the name Rogent in Delta Force II.....

I had account that my ID was  'Rogent' but due to no money I lost that account and ID

so same name with the x - I guess the x would be short for extreme

As for where I came up with the name Rogent, no clue - just thought it up

what squad were you with in DF2?

I needed a new gameID when I came back… I picked “Papabear” because it seems to fit me now. I’m the biggest, the oldest… and I don’t like it when somebody else is sitting in my chair.

Falcon4. I logged onto a server that was having what I thought was FFA furballing. 'Niehls' flags me for Tiger team (I was going by the default 'JoePilot') and at merge I broke low after panic set in when I realized icons (labels) were off and BB started screaming in my ear. I remember I was 'thumb-enabling' the antenna when my plane broke apart (also when I learned about HOTAS).

Niehls on vox: "Oh boy this is going to be one giant *&%^$@ challenge."  He kept it up through squad initiations and it stuck.

I had to pick a name that would make up for my horrible ACM, SA and gunnery.  Something that would scare people since my flying abilities obviously did not.  so S1n1ster was a good choice.

Update:  It did not work.

kamilyun = chameleon, able to change skin color.

I fly with 5 different shade accounts, switch countries (and squads) often, and spy on NOE missions.  On the forums I have 4 different IDs.

:noid

This isn't about being a chameleon.  It's about being Sybil, but with real identity issues.   :rofl

Mines quite simple. I got my name from my grandfather. "VansCrew" was his call sign.

Van's,
If you can find a taxi sheet from the bomb group your Grandfather flew with it will have the pilot, airplane number and position in the formation. My Dad's group the 391st bomb group has the planes and their numbers and nose art name listed on a page. I looked at the taxi sheets and could deternine which planes he flew for what mission.  The mission objectives are also listed. Pretty cool stuff.
 Good luck!
