I have 2 hard drives from a raid system that may have some errors on them. I'm not sure. The other system crashed. Which also may have been from over heating. Also one of the harddrives has windows installed. Would it be okay to install those on my new system or should I take them to a shop and have them tested in some manner?

Well getback if it was me I'd plug them into my system. Boot to WD diagnostics disc or the equivilent for seagate, maxtor, etc.
Repartition, and reformat the drive. At that point you can use it as extra storage.
But I wouldn't plan on it as my main boot drive.
One of the goodies I got with my last system was a USB to IDE/SATA device.
Consists of a power supply for 1 hard drive, a fancy SATA/IDE/floppy Ide coupler, connected to a usb cable. So in seconds I can power up and boot any hard drive and take a look at it without ever shutting down the system or cracking the case.
This cost me a whole 10$ from Mwave. Really sweet for transfering data, checking out old ide hard drives, can even hook a 3.5" floppy up to it and have a external floppy drive if I need one.

Thanks Ghost,
Never even thought about that.

Ghost,
I found them on Mwave but not for $10. Am I overlooking something. Btw, that sounds so cool. I saw them at Fry's for 25 bucks which is here in my home town.
Thanks again!

Getback actually I found mine under accessory's when I bought a new WD sata drive. Just popped into Mwave, did a search for "USB 2 SATA IDE adapter" and it was 3rd item from the top. I havn't used mine a lot, but I have used it a couple of times and it works flawlessly. As far as I'm concerned mine is already paid for.
