I got it yesterday in Las Vegas for the plane ride home and so far I am about a 1/4 of the way through it. The writer has some interesting theories that are tied to some historical facts. It is crazy but not entirely out of the realm of possibility that several Chinese fleets were sent out around the world in the early Ming dynasty period and they did find the "new world" long before Columbus. Here is the website in case anyone wants to take a look http://www.1421.tv

I remember seeing a program that included finding a Chinese-type anchor in San Francisco Bay, or somewhere on the west coast. It was one of those donut style stone anchors.

There are supposedly all sorts of Chinese ship wrecks all around the NW Pacific coast that could be dated from that time frame. I still don't know what to think of the book but it has some pretty well thought out historical research based on maps and charts that were drawn by cartographers in Venice and Portugal at least 50 years before Columbus sailed. These maps show South America and Australia in pretty good detail but have some errors in placement due to longitude.

I thought the cover looked interesting but that's as far as I got. Also wasn't it later proved that bascially it's all a load of crap and belongs in the ficton section.
Though of course the author and publisher have done very well out of it.

I don't know I just started reading it yesterday. When I finish it I am going to do a little extra reading to see what I find out about it. I did find this link just a little bit ago when I was reading some other stuff about this book.

Supposedly there's some evidence that the Ancient Egyptians may has reached the New World. Specifically, cocoa (the plan that chocolate is made from) found in some tombs, I think as part of the incense or whatever used during the mummification process. At least at that time, cocoa was ONLY found in the Americas.

That image on the right hand side....Isn't that a P-51D dropping a bomb on a German U-Boat?!?!?!?!?!
By god it couldn't be that the US and the Germans were fighting back in ancient Egypt also right!?!?!?!?!?

BTW I am retracting part of my earlier statement. This book has some wild ideas that are tied to bits and pieces of ancient charts and maps and a bunch of leaps of faith that someone from China came across the Atlantic and Pacific oceans looking for other lands.

I remember reading of ancient Chinese vessels 1000 feet long that sailed to the Indian Ocean long before the European age of discovery.
