My wife, her sister, and their mother are big-time players at the local gamerooms. You now the ones. Illegal in Texas yet if they grease the local law enforcement departments they don't mess with them. My mother in law especially is a good player, or real damn lucky. She's the type that will put in 5 bucks and immediately hit a 30 dollar winner. Her next door neighbor is even more lucky. Doesn't matter what she plays or how much she puts in, she wins. Typically the neighbor will leave her house with 50 bucks and come home with 300. Usually. Sometime even more. A lot more.
I go with them sometimes, I'm not a big gambler or anything of that sort. However, I have picked up the addiction to Keno, specifically Superball Keno. I can take 20 bucks and make it last 2 to 3 hours. The memorizing of the 'hot numbers' and playing those numbers is what keeps me in it. Usually I'll ticket out 10 or 20 bucks more than I put in, sometimes less. But for some reason I NEVER hit the big one. Last year my wife put in 10 dollars in a Keno machine and within 3 minutes hit 600 bucks. I never get that. I hit plenty of $4.80 or $8.00 but rarely anything more than that. So, lastnight after putting in $20 and playing that for 2 and half hours, I was down to my last $3. I hit 2 $8 winners in a row and then this:

I love playing the game more than actually winning money, as I said I usually come out ahead. But it was nice for once to hit something relatively big, especially for me! :D

I never win, I always lose :(
-
well now you have to report that 96 bucks to the IRS.
If I was to win money at cards like I might occasionally do. I would not post on the intardnet. I would just make vague referances to cow tipping, and uragauyans.
-
That's ok. Guy 2 machines to my left hit $100 and then 5 minutes later hit $96.

I went for my first time to a casino about 3 months ago, up here in Chicago there all other the place now, so went in with $120 and ended winning around $400 playing nickel & quarter slots, have to say it was alot of fun, haven't had that kinda luck there since, been back about 2 more times, but like you said, even if you dont win you still just have fun playing.
-
Not taxable. IRS can go sit on it, Chachie! :p
-
Yeah I believe it's anything you win over $10,000, then the tax forms come out.
-
Spent the last 8 days in Las Vegas at a tradeshow and ended up even after starting out with $100 playing blackjack, roulette and craps. I never got up over $300 more than I started with but never went below the $100 mark either. It was a good week.

You could be right, I've never come close to needing a tax form.

You'll notice at the bottom of the screen the last payout was $285.
Also, I played the 10's (10, 20, 30, etc...) pretty much exclusively lastnight. After they ran cold I switched numbers to one's that seemed to be getting hot. Twice while I was playing away from my 10's they hit twice, 5 with a bounce, each hit being worth $320 for a double payout of $640. I should have stuck with the 10s the whole night, dammit.

Question guys, i sell the paper(dollar size for the machines) to the casinos that use it.......Now we been getting an increasing number of call from people in Texas(no legal gambling i know of) but there usually small shops run by asian folks(thats whos ordering anyways).
but what are these places like?

I dont gamble. At least not with games and money are combined
Mostly cause I've been neither, good or lucky at it.
I spend $5 per week on the lottery.
two on the Mega Millions and 2 on those scratch off instant win cards.
Those I play just for the hell of it and to goof on the store owners who keep trying to get me to buy the $4 & 45 cards. I do once in a while just to prove to them that I can loose 44 just as easily as I can loose $1. and it doesnt cost me as much.
Occasionally I win $2 or $4. Once I hit for a whopping $10.
In the last 25 years the most I've ever hit for on ANY lottery game was $56 on a pick 3. some 20 years ago
But its safe to say I've spent more on the damn things then I've ever won..
but hey. You gotta be in it to win it. And its only a couple bucks and ya never know. I may win all my money back in one fell swoop one day. LOL.
The only thing I've ever had any luck with gambling was strangely enough was Dog racing.
Cant pick a horse woth a watermelon but I was able to pick dogs.
When I used to go visit my grandmother in Fla. the Hollywood Dog Track was about 3 blocks away from her house and we used to go there once in a while just for fun.
I actually got pretty good at picking the trifecta.
But I consider winning more often then loosing to be "pretty good" so.. LOL
Still I never had alot to bet so I never bet alot. And knew better then to place large bets with my own money
I think I parlayed $10- into $50-$60 one night.
Big time winnings for me.
But that was long ago. I think its been 10 years since I've been to a dog track and my mother lives in Port st Luci now where there isnt any dog track. and I dont bet the ponies so..
Now in business and sometimes my life I'll gamble
That I've been pretty decent at. but money games.
well lets put it this way.
In all my live I've won exactly 1 game of Monopoly.
And I most recently lost about 3 weeks ago to my 11 year old daugter.
So nope. I dont gamble.
I figured if your not good at something like that.
best not to do it

Back in 2000 my wife and to a connecting flight in/out of Vegas to visit my buddy in Tigard, Or.
OTW back, we had an overnight stay at the Flamingo. We walked around during the afternoon. I felt tired and went to bed around 7pm. She was tired as well, but I woke up around 1am and could not get back to sleep.
I decide to grab the ATM card and head down to the Mirage (I chatted with Phil Helmouth for about five minutes and saw Howard Lederer there and chatted with him for about a 1/2 hour. Both guys are cool and down to Earth). My wife wanted to watch me play but she's very grouchy when she just wakes up. My brother taught me the game when I was 8 and I've been hooked on it long before ESPN popularized it.
I take my $500 to the tables and find a seat at the No-Limit $1-$2 table. Guy next to me start's yapping. I pick up on a lot of the "tells" by the 4th hand. I'm already up to about $1100 by this point. The drunkard next to me again says "I'm gonna end up." I cut him off and glare at him, "you aren't gonna touch a dime of this money, now save it for someone else." He breaks out to get more chips from the dealer.
I start chuckling as it's about 2:30am. I've already quadrupled my start cash and things are looking up. Then I receive a gift from the poker Gods. Pocket 10's and a 10 on the flop. The moron next to me bet the max, I stew for about 2 seconds and call. Everyone else called as well. The Turn brought me a natural Four of a Kind. The moron now goes all in with $2500, I called after stewing for a second, in the hopes that some would stay in as my planned indecisiveness would keep some in. Nope.
The moron shouts "Sucker, I got you! Oh, you are going down so hard I'm gonna have to repave the sidewalk." (Keep in mind I haven't said a word to this guy since my quote above about 3 hours earlier in time.) I ask the very attractive dealer for a tray. She gives me the cocked head look like "what are you doing?"
The guy yells "Quit stalling kid! I got you, now pony up those chips!" I turn over my hole cards and he's speechless. I say, "What's the matter you look as though someone has walked over your grave? I think you need to try another tactic when trying to be an a**hole in public. BTW, can you afford a new sidewalk?" I flipped the dealer a $20 for putting up with the moron.
I plop the cash on the table in our room and go to bed. I wake up to the sound "You son of a b**ch! I told you I wanted to watch!" I looked at her "No you didn't, not last night."
That is the most I've ever won, in one sitting. Haven't walked into a Casino since.

In our area there are not any ran by Asians that I know of. Mostly in the good ole boy system so to speak.
They are wide open and most run 24 hrs. a day. It is the old switcheroo system where they are not supposed to pay out in cash, only prizes, etc. None do. All pay in cash.
They get raided usually on a 6 to 8 month basis. Machines are hauled, cash confiscated. Machines are returned. Cash is kept. The good ole boy system again. They stay shutdown for a week or so , then back to business as usual.
What are they like? To sum it up, sleaze ball joints. After hours meeting place for dealers and drug sales, the hopelessly........well hopeless and those that don`t have a clue in general.

Trax...what you are referring to is called "luck".
Depending on the location, slots have the highest "take-out", the portion of profit a joint makes outside of what goes back to paying "winners. Games like keno, craps, roulette, blackjack, etc have a lower takeout, but depend on gaining profit over the long haul.
The slots at Mc Carren Airport in Las Vegas have the highest take-out in Las Vegas (run by the city transportation authority) and some running 20.0%. I had mine at 9.99999%, and that was about right. Most casinos have their chips set to 14.25% to 18.9%.
There are two types of slots players.....the "THIS is MY machine" player and players who play 3 to 4 spins on a machine, then manchine hop to the next machine, ad inifinitum.
Because of take-out, I'll machine hop at The Billagio, but stake out a single $1 machine at The Rio.
The same player who hops on a machine and on the third spin wins $500 can easilly sit at another machine and feed a$500 into it and lose it all over a 3 hour timespan. Odds & luck. You win some along the way, but end up losing in the long haul.
Out of all the bets at a legit joint, the "come-out" line (odds) bet is the most conservative, and the only bet in the house where the house does not have a statistical advantage. Go to the hole in the wall that is "Casino Royale" in Vegas (next to Harrahs) and bet $2-$6 bucks (even dollars, not odd) every bet on the "odds" bet, and STAY AWAY from the 3/5/6/8/9 bets and you will consistently walk away with $200 to $400 a night.
Problem is most gamblers don't see it that way, they see it that the higher odds bets pay more, so they "lost" money if they don't bet on them. I'll do a 6 or an 8 on craps from time to time, but not often.
Paper seller: Last I knew, there are no LEGAL gambling establishments in the state of Texas. If you are getting TI/TO (ticket in/ticket out) paper sales for paper than normally goes in a gaming machine it's probably illegal.
No surprise though, there are only two gaming establishments in Arkansas (I ran one of them for 3 years) and there are PLENTY of illegal gambling locations right here in Hot Springs. Poker and slots mainly.
I prefer the legit joints...I'm going to Las Vegas next week.
See you at The Rio.
