why is it that the guys who GV first get to up a AC and guys who "fly" first dont get to have a gv life? if you get 2 lives 1 gv 1 ac then why do you have to gv first?
-
That's just the way I set this FSO up.
In the future, if we include GV's again, we'll use what we've learned here to improve.

Traditionally, GVs, IL2, B5Ns etc., have gotten two lives as compensation for flying "bait" and most people would not like being assigned a GV as their only ride in an FSO!

I don't think he was questioning the reason for two lives, but more so the order in which they had to be used. So that someone who flew an aircraft could roll a GV for the second half.
At least that's what I thought he meant. :)

ya its more of why you must roll gv first or not at all

Yep, not enough coffee this morning.

Simple reason that became apparent after a couple years.
This is primarily a flight sim. Most of those that participate in our events want to fly AC and not roll across the ground. I quickly found out that if we allow squads to up in AC first, (their first life) and GV’s second, (their second life) the attrition rate is much higher.
In a nut shell players will stick around to fly, but they will not always stick around for GV’s. So you put them in GV’s first and they can look forward to the flying later.
