I'm shocked none of you have a State Of The Union thread going. I gotta say he looked weak. He did some early grandstanding with threatening to veto any bill that had earmarks (I believe the exact quote was "at least 1/2 as many earmarks). I'm sure he will find a way to weasle out of that.
He called for cleaner emission autos that will "cut emissions that add to global climate change". I guess he's on Al Gore's bandwagon now...
He also wants Pell Grants for public school students (vouchers).
Besides breaking into a characature of himself giggling early on, it was uneventfull and his most forgetable SOTU. Thank God we don't have to hear another from him, EVAR!
-
What did you expect for a lame duck? Remember, Clinton's was far, far worse.
-
Yeah but at least when Clinton spoke he could put a whole sentence together, lol.
-
All the SOTU address is a bunch of stuff everyone wants to hear.
Did anyone see Dick Cheney? He must be still mad that his daughter is a lesbo.

Yes and Clinton inherited the recovering economy Bush Sr. set the ground work for so he didnt have to do anything in office but frolick with interns, or get himself impeached for getting a Lewinski in the oval office. Then at the end of Clintons time Bush Jr. got the dot.com flop economy and cut taxes to get the economy going on his OWN watch. Clinton was a master frolicker..... Bush Jr. at least gave a shot at reviving the economy with tax cuts and succeeded. He even fought a war where his F117 pilots didnt hit any Chinese property, including buildings outside of mainland China.........;)

dont worry rpm, Mitt speaks much better than Bush

I was gonna say "wow." to that one. The fact that Eagler agrees with it makes it certified horsepoopy.

Give me a break. Bush has vetoed fewer bills than any president since Harding. He has promoted excessive spending as much as Congress has. Suddenly NOW he wants to try and control spending?
-
Earmarks were not a bad thing prior to the dems taking over congress, now they are evil and need to be vetoed.

Favorite line:
We have other work to do on taxes. Unless the Congress acts, most of the tax relief we have delivered over the past 7 years will be taken away. Some in Washington argue that letting tax relief expire is not a tax increase. Try explaining that to 116 million American taxpayers who would see their taxes rise by an average of $1,800. Others have said they would personally be happy to pay higher taxes. I welcome their enthusiasm, and I am pleased to report that the IRS accepts both checks and money orders."
:rofl :aok

I thought Dubya was going to pee his pants when he told that one. He literally turned into a characture of himself.
