For the Folks who don't like channel 200...MOVE

You have many other channels to choose....If you have 4 people on that channel..then thats all that agree with you

Yes I know...there are idiots on 200 now and then..its not 24 hours a day..well most of the time

But to say 200 is killing game play?...That is truly thin skinned ...limpwristed linguine spinned..

We all CHOOSE to tune 200 in...you have choices

Beware, channel 200 downgrades your grammar, for example the word, "bargain."

I disagree.  People go on tirades against others.  If the "other" is not monitoring 200 then he/she could be made to look very bad without the ability to give a different perspective.  If we could somehow filter out attacks on other players then I would agree.

I personally find 200 somewhat entertaining but I'm starting to question if the cost outweighs it's benefit.  Perhaps not allow someone to type to the buffer on channel 200 for a 2 minute period after they die.  Dead people don't talk. ;)   Actually, it's a cool down period.  It might elimiate some of the HO messages and insults which cause much of the clutter.

I also think you should have to request a PM to open a communication channel with another player.  The other player should be able to refuse it.

I think 200 is good.  I think the personal attacks are bad.  We should focus on ways to help reduce the personal attacks.

thin skinned is right! We didn't even have a choice back in the days of channel 1!

Might I suggest many take what is said on 200 a little too seriously. But if it hurts your feelings....don't tune it!

I personally like to be able to chat with, harass, and or Salute, those that I play this game with, and against. I hear that in offline mode the competition doesn't smack talk.....go try there if 200 is too much for ya!. :aok

200 detuned since day 1 in AH.  Waste of time and a distraction that is not needed.  You are right, if you do not like it, do not tune it.  However, if you cannot control yourself, then you should also not tune.

200 is fun bantor, only the weak holy roller types get upset about it!  Geesh, you'd think that people understand it's the internet.   We have filters in place to keep the sludge off, so why get all anal about someones tirade, just detune!:aok

Don't think it has anything to do with someone being thin skinned. It has more to do with certain childish people that continually flood the buffer with whines about the how they died and just saying the same thing over and over and over and over again. There's about a dozen of these guys that do it. There the greatest cartoon pilots since sliced bread in thier minds and no matter how they die, they cry about it. I could care less what drivel they spout out. They look like idiots to most, so I just detune 200 most of the time, or squelch them when they get on there little soap box. I just don't have time to listen to grown men act like stupid kids. A little banter is fine and fun at times, it the lamer, continual whiner that's sad. If the dozen or so continual whiners were not on 200, it be a great place. but as in most things, the few ruin it for the majority. Thank God for squelch...easy fix really.  :D

I was flying with cmustard and the jokers that night. I witnessed the whole situation. BigBMaw you spoiled our mission and we were so pissed. I have to admit you got to us on 200. To pour even more salt on the wound, I got pngd from chat for 1 week for responding to you inappropriately. In retrospect all I can do is laugh....I can't believe you got to me.:aok

I don't tune 200, i don't care to hear it, not that i don't like it, I can't honestly say I have ever really listened to it, i also squelch those few people who bug me, I don't think anyone has ever noticed that i squelch and de-tune 200, they don't care, niether do I, I suggest more people take this approach and leave 200 folks alone.

I personally enjoy 200, as tiring as some may be at times...especially those dorks who feel the need to give you a play by play account of what some other dweeb is doing....all night.

I can see both sides though.  As you are right, we all have the ability to detune 200...though it comes with a price.  If you don't want to pay that price, or feel that you shouldn't have to because someone else (or group) is acting like a moron(s), then you get an argument about the channel.  Like hondo, I don't think that argument is about being thin skinned. I just don't think people want to deal with/listen to it, but still want to be able to talk to a large portion of the community.

I guess a bigger question would be how it affects the overall community.  Does it attract negative elements? are people closing accounts? contributes to griefing?  affect how people flying, being affraid of ridicule? Don't have any answers just speculating.  but I think these would be the main issues involving gameplay and public channels.  Then again, you always have the chance to detune...in fact you have to tune first.

Well said.  I detuned 200 about a month ago.....ain't worth a toss to game play but some get giggles outta it.

I remember when channel 1 "Banter" was classy, one liner, tongue in check, thought out, INTELEGENT humour.

How repetitive these same folk are is beyond understanding.  Doh! "i was shot by 4 ho guys 6 feet off their runway.  They could clearly see I was low and slow in the worst fighter plane AH could offer. They had to gang rape me because I'm fantastic ruining my greatest all time 1v1 and spray me in the face like a cheap hookers pearl necklace....the skilless, running, hoard, Ho tards"

Hardly banter, hardly humour, hardly intelligent:rolleyes:

Some of the banter on 200 is quite entertaining. I do agree that some of the whining and what some consider banter or taunting is just plain boring. A lot of the ones that think they're funny really need to take a look at what they throw out there.

What I like about 200, is that sometimes I am warping/having connection problems and the opposing plane calls it out, even though from my perspective I am good to go, so I check with a friendly and if they indicate that indeed I am warping then I land and relog.

Just the other night I was part of a strike inbound and an enemy fighter, who had shot down a friendly, on 200 asked him to let me know (or the 190) that I was warping, i got on 200 and talked to the one who indicated the problem and told them, if the broke off, I would return to base and relog, the pilot said no problem, broke off and I landed and relogged.

Otherwise I tend to ignore it and only squelch those who are spilling torrents of mindless dribble.

I don't have any problem whatsoever with CH 200.  After all, you have to be here for a while to get "in the know" enough to even know it exists. And you have to tune it to receive it in the first place, and can just as easily detune it.  It's kind of like the O'Club off-topic forum - you know your wading into a cesspool when you open it, so if that's going to bother you, then don't.

What I'd much rather see changed is that there is no option for players to decline cross-country pm's or voice. If there was ever a time when I would have quit AH, it was after just starting to fly here and ending up on the receiving end of a couple of those.   I'd MUCH rather see that receive attention (probably arena based, so that trainers can pm clueless noobs in the TA regardless).

Oh, and a way to detune country would add some blessed peace and quiet at times, too.

There's no conversation if you don't tune to it. Therefore no price to pay. And you can easily talk to others via a PM or "Range".

Complaining about ch200 is like being in a bar, listening in to conversations around you, inject yourself in those conversations, telling people to change the subject if you don't like it, tell them to shut up, or get into a verbal fight with them.

You know, like everyone would do in real life.  You should try it some time.  It really works.  Walk into a bar, inject yourself in a conversation, and then shout at them "STFU you dweeb.  I own you.  All see you out side in 2 minutes (err DA)"

Please come back and post the results of that experiment:D

guess the old if a tree falls in the woods and no one is around does it make a noise?

what if you enjoy speaking with others, but dislike listening to the banter? then conversations that you would like to be in on, are now not available...it doesn't mean they are not happening, it just means you are no longer involved.   It's like watching tv without a dvr.  If you like a show, but dislike the commercials, ya I guess by turning the tube off you miss the commercials....does that mean the show never played?  Just doesn't seem rational to me.

That said, I think if you don't like 200 you shouldn't tune to it, but I can see why some people who don't like 200, would tune to it, and why they would have an issue.

I know what you mean, but there are no "conversation previews" as to what will be happening on 200. You only know from having tuned to 200 if anything funny will occur. Thus if you don't tune to it, you're not missing anything.
