Gentlemen,
Two suggestions to cut down on some of the unplesantries of this WAR!
1) Next AvA each participant must register for a side that keeps them on that side for the entire WAR! Registration could run throught the AH special events site.
2)All bases must be captured with no less than forty (40) troops.
If one or two guys are able to take down a base and get forty troops to the maproom, cut them some slack. That was a good 45 minutes worth of work. If the base icon is flashing for up to 45 minutes, then you didn't want to defend that base anyway. Hence milkruns are fairly eliminated.
Thoughts? :huh
Opinions?
Additional Whinning? :cry
Cheers:aok

Unfortunately, since side imbalances' with the #'s of players' happens to be one of the biggest problems' with the setup, Staying with one side is not going to fix the AvA gameplay issue. It's causing the 'hordeing' that is making people log out of one of the best AvA setup's to come down the pipe in some time.
You could make the troop capture 40; I don't really think it will change milkrunning any. Bases' don't get defended on this map because unless it's an airfield, you don't have very much you can do to defend it. The V-bases' don't even have much for AA outside of the auto ack and the manned gun(which is usually popped first, anyway) and we don't have osties' or M-16's available. Who wants' to sit out there with a Jeep, trying to shoot planes' down with the pintle gun, knowing that you are the easiest kill in the game?
Sorry, I don't think it will really work.

Yep it's so easy for a small group to milk run vbases it's fairly sad. I was at the edge of one of the Allies vbases dar rings when I saw a vbase start flashing. Soon as it started flashing I turned to the base to go see what it was.
In the time it started flashing to the time it took me to fly from the edge of the Dar ring to the Vbase. A few milk runners already had 3 sets of troops running in the map room. Needless to say they captured the base.
I think considering there are less people in the arena and Vbases are so easy to sneak, I think the base should start flashing at the same distance as the MA.
It's my opion that base captures should be made harder in thisa arena rather than easier. You should be forced to fight to capture a base IMHO.

After participating over the last 3+ weeks, this same debate keeps popping up. It obviously bothers people, and after thinking on it...
I'm not sure why.
Here's the facts:
Milkrunning happens by BOTH sides
Outnumbering happens on BOTH sides
In the italy map, the dynamic "front line" hasn't shifted more than a few grid spaces in either direction.
While some groups might be able to snake a few bases behind enemy lines, or perhaps even near the front lines, it doesn't make a terrible imbalance or serious problem.
When adequate numbers are reached, players on BOTH sides have already figured out they got backdoor'd or need to push harder on the front. And they do. Balance is returned, and all the bloody noses and black eyes from the milkrunning is healed.
I don't think some people take into consideration the whole picture when complaining about a certain issue. Look farther ahead at what we have here and you'll see it isn't NEARLY as unfortunate as anyone thinks.
There's ALWAYS something to do in here, and regardless of weather or not one side got an extra couple deployment points, one side isn't seriously out matched or disadvantaged.
I for one commend Soda and Mr. Fork on a job well done in creating an awesome atmosphere, where players can work togeather at a common goal, and accomplish some great things.
Mr. Fork and Soda!

That's not very nice. You shouldn't treat people that way. :p :lol

It looks to me that this daily reporting of base captures is what bringing about the milkrunning problem. If a time is set, say Saturday, midnight eastern time, that is the only time of the week that base count is checked, and points are awarded for who HOLDS what. The key here being "holds". It wouldn't matter who milked what, because over all it would most likely even out, and the big push would be on Saturday, or what eve day is chosen.

I don't know. I'm ambivelent about the base capturing but last night a very good sustained fight broke out between players at A42 and A1. I suspect it may have begun over a contest for P3 but it was a great furball just the same.
