"This is what I do. I hit people." - Dustin Brown
Young kid out of Ithaca, New York... leads the NHL in hits (and one of the few bright spots in our otherwise dismal season).

Here's one from last year:

...and a greatest hits compilation from last year:

The guy is like a shark. Completely emotionless wrecking machine.

I forgot one more...
The Dustin Brown Institute of Skate Tectonics (http://www.instituteofskatetectonics.com/index.html)

Sorry, i know very little about ice hockey... is it allowed to lead with the elbow like that so you hit the guy in the head? Or is it against the rules and classed as a high tackle like Rugby/American Football?
-
The victim needs to be in close proximity to the puck and as long as you don't use your stick to nail him, it's pretty much anything goes.

Hockey = UFC on skates!

Kkarrrma... I hope he gets hit by his own medicine sometime.

No, it's not okay to lead with the elbow. It happens though... sometimes it's deliberate. Other times, it's just bad timing.

I wouldn't bet on it. Brown has excellent awareness. In this video from last season he hits Matt Cooke while carrying the puck himself.

He's not a god, some one will make it a point to clean his clock. Probably wont be a clean hit either. That being said he seems like a hell of an asset to the Kings and I only saw one hit that looked a bit questionable in those videos. May have been the angle though.

Oh yeah... there are some questionable hits... but it's probably 1-2% of the total.

I'm sure he's got a more thensitive side.

Seriously? Is that it?
I find it very sad. What is considered to be a "Big Hit" these days used to be the standard. Where anyone NOT hitting that hard was a sissy girl.
Congratulations NHL. YOU have pussified hockey.
Until they change it back, I won't be watching Disney on Ice anymore.

Sure, but thats why he wears a cup.

That guy's super. I didn't actually watch those clips until later.
LMAO that it was titled "6.4 magnitude!" Watched some local hockey games at our little rink here a few years ago. It was unfortunate to not see some great checks. Loved it. Thanks for posting :)

Awe, come on tough guy. Admit it ~ some of those were such good hits that the boys were putting their hands over their faces afterward and calling for their Mommies.

Leading with an elbow will never be considered a big hit. Unless you're a woman (literally).
NOT EVEN considering that they were cheap shots, they weren't that big of hits.

Am I the only one who thinks that the NHL has become a league for girly men?

I only saw one where it looked possibly cheap, but like I said it might be the angle.

Yes.
I think the frequency of hits is down because the puck carrier is really the only guy that can be checked anymore. I like the fact that hooking, holding, and interference are all being called more often. It makes for a faster game.
I dislike the fact that the NHL has become a league for girly men and children spectators. I'd like to see the nets removed at either end.

I guess I'm a total wimp then, because those looked like really hard hits.
Were the pictures posted from a real game, or were those from a movie?
