There was an interesting cultural difference between red pilots and others (Germans and Western) in one of those films where surviving veterans (as old men) were interviewed. Others were quite modest, serious and maybe even regreting having shot down other people. The ruskies were smiling and laughing when they told about their victories.

There are lots of other WW2 films too, not only air war. Great site really :)
