aight i got it lol!
-
Very cool. It is one of the more attractive cars out there these days.
-
Sweet. Always loved Mustangs.
-
Those cars are about the best looking factory cars out there.
You should have got a 5 or six speed tho. lot more fun.
lazs
-
V6? Or GT with a no-foglights grille?
EDIT- With that rocker-panel stripe, its gotta be a V6. haven't seen many with the LeMans sttripes on a V6 though.
You should have gotten it with the Pony Package. :)
-
Awsome dude, I almost bought one twice. I just love the way they look. You drive what u can afford, but bummer on the V6, and double bummer on the automatic :(
-
Nice. Your neighborhood reminds me of one that I was thinking about purchasing a home in located between Grovetown and Augusta Ga in 1991. It's nice to see so many American cars around your house (except for the Vdub). When I lived down there I was amazed (and shocked) by the amount of foriegn cars.
(shoulda gotta V8 witha 6-speed...)
-
Actually the V6 on the S197s is peppy as hell- great acceleration, the computer cuts the speed at the same point as any stock GT I've driven (115 mph) and it still gets around 30MPG highway. I've had people drive mine and refuse to believe that its a sixxer until I show them the single exhaust peeking out from under the fender.
At least I can do that NOW, I'm looking to get a true-dual exhaust setup that will bump the horsepower (along with all the other mods I've made or have lined up waiting to go) up to almost the same level as a stock GT, without breaking in to the engine or violating the warranty. And its gonna sound mean as hell. :t
-
Nice looking car. Congrats. :aok
-
Oh, I almost forgot! Dmon, go here (http://www.bmcforums.com/cmps_index.php). Tell 'em Treize sent you. :aok
-
even the v6 these days is only 5hp shy of the 220hp that the 5.0 put out. still a rocket. nice ride. i like it :aok
-
verrrrry nice lookin car there kiddo
-
Should have got the GT. :)
-
You'll put your eye out kid.
-
thanks i know it would have been even more badass if it was a GT six speeds. BUT insurance doesnt like 17 year olds to have v8s in there 2 door sports cars. so even if i would have a got a older model GT the insurance still would have been another 200 bucks/ month but my dad said he was looking at a gt for himself and said that it really wasnt that much more powerful then the V6.
for the 6speed part. it was the only mustang in the lot. and i was sitting in traffic on the way to school the otherday and got to thinkin. im glad its not a 6 speed cause then i would have to shift every 5 seconds and would just get old every single day going to school.
but my parents suprised me with it. i was about to watermelon my pants when i saw it!
-
Wtf? Automatic? Noob.
-
it also came with the XM radio instalment but its soooo scratchy coming through the radio. is there anyway to make it more clear coming through the FM radios?
-
Pretty sure it can be hard wired into the system so it just switches over to XM and plays like anything else. Playing it off a low frequency FM station always sounds like crap. Take it to your local custom shop and have them see what can be done. Get some rims too, playa.
;)
-
aight ive been trying to try all the scratchy radios to try to get it to come through. i have a ipod thing that plays off the radio just fine but i cant seem to find a good channel that works right for the xm radio. i mean it came with the car. i had the xm radio. but its not coming through clear enough.
i want to get rims but they are like 800 bucks i dont have. there is so much i could do to this car if only i had money lol. i was looking at body kits but they are like 2,000 dollars lol.
-
lucky git lol.
i still need to get my license sorted :lol (can't drive till you're 18 here :()
-
Your post wasn't very clear, the XM came with the car or you already had the unit and now wish to use it in the 'Stang?
-
aww damn that blows i just made the break but people born in 1992 cant get there license till 17. i was born in 1990

no the car came with the xm hook up for the radio. i had bought the xm radio its self last year. i connected my xm radio with the car's radio imput for fm radio. but its soo scratchy.
-
My wife opted out of the GT as well. :( She loves her '05 convertible, its an auto too.
N-joy!
-
ohh yeah they are a blast to drive!!!! id recomend 1 to anybody.
-
Ok. Do you have to plug your XM into the cigarette lighter to power it as well? If so take it to a custom shop and get the whole thing hard wired in, and see if they can wire the Xm directly into the system so it plays like regular radio, a cd or tape would. It gets to be a wired mess if you have all that out in the open and not hard wired.
If the car came XM capable the stereo might actually have an XM option in the default settings. That way you could just switch stereo mode into XM and boom yer playing crisp with no bs fm interference. If you can't get the thing hardwired to play directly, XM has a cassette tape that plugs into the unit and plays the radio through the tape. That's how I have mine set up and it works pretty well. It's not quite CD crisp but very close. I tried to play through the FM stations but it was awful sounding.
-
yeah mine came with a casset but i dont have a casset player in the mustangs thats why i have to use the fm radio. i havent looked to see if there was a xm mode on the radio yet. ill try that.
i dont have a lighter plug for it either. i just hooked it up like my old one and set the fm frequincies. but ill look to see if there is a xm mode.
-
I'm not one for automatics, but thats a sexy looking car you've got there :aok
-
Shifting becomes like breathing, after a short while you only think of it when you think of it. And it's one less intermediate gizmo buffering what's between you and the car.
-
yea i think they would have got the manual if they had 1 in the lot. but its cool.
-
The whole annoyance of shifting in traffic thing is a myth. I've always driven a stick and it has never been an issue. Like moot said, becomes totally second nature.
Besides, you aren't really driving unless you're driving a stick. Automatics are just big golf carts.
-
i dont know my dad has been driving for a long time and he had to drive down to atlanta every morning and the traffic was horrible. he said that stickshift was a lot to handle in atlanta.
-
if there isn't a XM mode to switch on the radio, take it into a shop & they can hard wire it into radio, I think how it works is when the unit is turned on it shuts off the receiver to the FM so it doesn't get interference.
-
aight how much would that cost?

Not sure, would guess less than a hundred, can't really remember. If inclined, I am sure you can search internet & find how to instructions. It can't be rocket science.
-
never been one for stangs, but that is a nice looking car man. I cant wait for the Camaros to come out... Hopefully ill be able to get one after my bonus from Field Training. justa basic car. 6.0 if they got, 6 speed, 3.73 rear, red interior, black paint. nothing else.
ma truck is gettin old, needs to rest a bit so i can do a resto and finish buildin her. still beats older 3 series beemers, hondas, and v6 stangs :) though

I breath a lot on the "Périph" :D

My first real drive in a stick shift was in a crappy beat-up van with barely any visibility in the rear 180degrees, right in the middle of Paris rush hour traffic. My dad thought it was a great way to get started :lol
Lucky for me I already had some practice with an old R5 in a friends backyard in the countryside.
-
I have the normal, store bought XM for mine and it plays just fine- you might need to go through your FM dial and find a frequency that is as far away from any actual local stations as you can get, usually towards the bottom of the dial. If theres a broadcasting station within a few decimal points it will start to bleed over.
Personally, I use 88.9 and have rarely had any problems (and when I do its usually the low-powered local NPR frequency in one of the areas I occasionally pass through). But I'm in a different area than you, that part of the dial might be more heavily used where you are.
If you have external power and antenna wires on your kit, make sure you have those signal-bleed protectors put on too- the magnetic field from the power source can interfere with the antenna if you don't, but its rare.
-
Great choice!
I drive a '06 Pony Package car with the 5 speed. I have wished for the auto on occasion but most of the time it suits me fine. I love the handling, the suspension is virtually the same as the GT and the V-6 car is a little lighter.
Enjoy it and don't let everyone else ruin your fun. Be safe, be happy:aok

Wow, your Dad got you a brand new Mustang at only 17!
That is some awesome father that you have. My Dad also got me a Mustang for my first car. It was a used 1969 coupe with a 302 V8, but I did not get it until I was 19. I drove that car for 17 years, I loved it so much. Made me sick when I finally unloaded it ( I had a wife and kid by then ), although I got the same amount of money for it that my Dad had originally paid for it!
I did not buy my own son a car until he was 19 as well. He was pretty jazzed when he got his too, although he still looks in shock in this photo I took of him:

He pretty much wanted a Civic Coupe, so I got him one with a 5 speed manual:

That was 2 1/2 years ago. Since then, he has got 11 tickets driving the car, and came close to losing his license at one point. His auto insurance is now outrageous. Hopefully you will have much better luck driving yours.
Great car you got! Makes me think back when I was young and driving a Mustang too! Enjoy these years while you can, and have lots of fun. For when you get married, your wife will also probably nag you to sell it and buy something more practical for a family, just like mine did to me.
Just thinking back about my selling my Mustang all those years ago still makes me want to cry! :cry :cry :cry It is odd how people can get attached to their cars so much.

Nice car kid.
shame on the auto.:huh
2 tips. 1 you do not drive as good as you think you do, yet. Keep that in mind.
2 get a Valentine1 or if thats out of it even a cheapie detector. It will keep the insurance down.

American Muscle lives on:aok
Most of DmonSlyr's age bracket usually opt for Honda/Acura and used Subarus/Mitsubishis.

FCC tards made XM and Sirius weaken the signal strength on the FM tansmitters. Have to get it hard wired like Stang said. That and switch to Sirius:D
