I've hesitated to post this, because I couldn't imagine why or how this could happen. I wasn't sure that it wasn't just a coincidence. (I'm still not, but it's one heck of a coincidence to have happened this many times)
I'm in a fighter, dogfighting, and I go pup and pull over then BAM - Crash to destop. It happened close to 20 times last camp, and happened today for the first time in this one.
I can't be certain, but it may only happen when I'm in a Spit XVI. I don't remember every plane it's happened in, but last month I started flying Spit XVI's alot, and that's what I was in today. I alo fly ki-61's, N1k's, and various F4U's. I can't remember it ever happening in either of those planes.
It's not related to dropping flaps, because I know I didn't do that today (and use them sparingly in the spit anyway)
I saw a post where Skuzzy responded that it may be related to a soundpack, Could it be the sound of buffeting near a stall? Is that sound different for different planes?
I have a mixed match of soun pack files, how can I replace this sound with a known good one? Which one would that be?

Just remove the custom sound and the game will revert to the default sound.

Look under the sounds folder and find the folder named after the suspect plane. In there u should have a file named stall.wav. Try removing that file (put in another location on your comp, don't delete it) and run the game.
If you don't find anything wrong, then that file was causing the problem.
If you still have problems, then return the file to its original location, and try to find which other file is causing the crash.
Good Luck!:)

If you find it is a particular sound fail causing the problem, I would like to get a copy of it so we can find out why it is crashing the game.

Ok, I'm pretty sure it only happens when I fly a spit16. It just happened again. I checked my sounds for the spit 16 and I don't have a stall sound in the folder. Is that a problem? What is it? this is really starting to brring me down . . .

I had just tried to drop flaps. I checked my folder and I have a flaps.wav file for the 16. Microsoft Media player can't play it because it doesnt recognixe the compression codec, As a test, I moved it to another folder and placed the stall.wav from the parent directory there. Do you want me to send the file to you? I'm not sure which sound pack it came from.

Yes, I would like to see it. It has been causing a lot of problems with a lot of people.

shiningpathb4me, its no point placing a .wav from the parent directory. The game before playing a sound checks if a custom sound is present for a given aircraft (in folder named after said aircraft). If its not found, it will play the sounds from the parent directory.
For e.g. in your setup, you had a generic stall sound for all a/c (taken from parent dir) but a customised flaps sound for the spit16 (from folder spit16). This customised sound file has the problem, all you need to do is remove it from the games folders and either replace it with some other flaps sound you like or let the game play a generic flap sound from parent directory. Placing sounds from parent directory into aircraft directories is just replicating data and wasting HD space.:aok
