Title: Moving to new MB - Help?
Post by: Chalenge on February 07, 2008, 09:16:42 AM
I am moving to an Intel board (ASUS P5KC) but I would like to know if its better to go with a core 2 quad or core 2 duo cpu. I want this board so I can move to the Ati DX10 cards but of course I dont want AH2 to have any new problems after the change.

Other than a cpu recommendation I would also like to know if there is any thing I need to be aware of? Thanks for any help you may have.

Overall, the duo chips are faster than tha quad core chips, in terms of straight up performance.  They also consume less power which generates less heat.  The cost/performance ratios favor dual core as well.

Unless you are an avid video/audio editor, you really will not be able to get much out of the quad core CPU's.

The Wolfdale E8400 is the best performance/cost core duo out on the market today. Overclocks like a beast, you won't be disappointed
