Title: F4U Specs
Post by: Puck on February 08, 2008, 02:43:41 PM
Does anyone know the distance between the two inside barrel centerlines and the distance between guns on an F4U?  An eWAG gives me about 20 feet for the bank distance and 1 foot for the barrel distance.

Yes, there is a reason, no it isn't particularly important.  I did some modeling for convergence on the F4U and concluded that if you set the inside pair at 350 yards you would need to increment the others by 43 yards to keep the bullet streams from each bank parallel.  It works out to just over half a degree of inward deflection on the guns, which seems to be the right order of magnitude.

I don't have the answer to your question, but... Nice Avatar!  another BSD junkie I take it?

*nix.  Face it, BSD has the best mascot.  Who wants a bird with bad breath pooping all over their posts?

I've been using AT&T and BSD forever, so flavor is more a matter of shifting gears than learning new tricks.

I can look it up on the drawings Puck, but it is a huge pain in the butt to dig those out.  How important is it?

Not worth posterior discomfort.  It's more about curiosity than anything useful.  I appreciate the offer, though.  :)

Puck, I will be in files tomorrow possibly, and will see if I can find them.

Good.  Send me the specs for the rivet lines and access panels, too, so I can make my F4U skins more accurate  :)

Just kidding.

LOL, yeah right....  Get off your lazy butt and come down here in June.  Then you can take pictures to your hearts content.
