I remember my Dad letting me know whenever his era of stars would die.
Now I am starting to feel old as well.:(

Roy Scheider first became known to me when I four years old. As a child, watching him portray Chief Brody, he became a hero of mine. I credit him, along with the movie "Jaws" with sparking my interest in sharks and the ocean. Coincidentally enough, I just saw my first Great White shark a few months ago in California.
For those of you who don't know, Scheider made one final film before his death. He worked with some fellows who are Jaws-fanatics and he narrated a film called "The Shark is Still Working". Its a documentary about the Jaws phenomenon. Currently the film is finished and awaiting release.

Sad to see him go, he was one of my favorites.
A few movies I really liked him in:
Jaws
All that Jazz
2010

Nobody mentioned "The Seven Ups"? Only the best chase scene in history.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hg4QtYizPKM

He was great in Jaws, Blue Thunder, 2010
"You think I'd set foot on this tub sober?"

saw Jaws a couple of week ago for the first time in 15 to 20 years........actually forgot what a great film it was.
The drinking scene in the boat cabin exchanging war wounds is one of the best movies scenes of all time....especially when quint starts talking about the sinking of the U.S.S. Indianapolis.
as an actor....I think his best acting was in..."All That Jazz"..and I think he agreed.

Completely forgot about all that jazz.
2010 "you just bought yourself 2 more minutes"
and Jaws are the two that always immediately come to mind whenever he is mentioned.
Jaws is the first movie that immediately comes to mind for all three of those actors.
2 of em are now gone
