head of IT, something goes major afoul at a remote location.....
the guy I took over for totally jerry-rigged the whole network, and they knew it when I came along....
so tonight I became the HERO for working out a scanning issue between a local PC logon, our domain, BullS%$%$ TWAIN drivers, and FTP transfer scripts to a web/file server in our domain. :aok
I don't care if that is techno-babble, I'm jazzed :D
in all honesty, here I am at 9:27 I started work at 8:25 left work at 6:45, I'm salary, and I don't care! it is fun, engaging, different every day, and a challenge!
#$$%& I love my job!

Glad you are just working at all Dave. Make the most of your job. It's all we can do. Leave you your own "little touch or mark" on it. You and I both take pride in our work.
<> bro. You deserve it.

thanks bro! you and many know I been in the pooper for a long time :( Here I am finally showing what I can offer....
It's all about getting the opportunity to shine, and well unless a meteor hits the planet I have a great spot in life. Yeah I want and will expect more along the way, but with a small family company you don't get the bankroll all the time. I don;t want unlimited funds, just a salary to live on comfortably, and I am > < close to getting it.
I am much more than just plain old IT, I am active in the company, and I truly want a "home". they know this, and have kept me in their business plan the whole way. I spend a few hours a day doing customer service just to help the company... I want to keep this place afloat, and growing, it only means more for me if I may be so selfish :D

Just curious, what are they scanning? at what volume?
If our ITS dept would just give us 'admin' rights on our boxes we could fix everything... I swear it! :D

they are scanning in freight bills of lading for our truck loads. for archive and reference purpose. we also have a rendition print system for printing their invoices with the original freight bill behind it. how many? 2-300+ sheets a night.
oh an LOL no FRAKING WAY! I don't even want to give "user" rights to some of these dolts. :huh :cry :lol
