What's the average hardware setup that will run the Hi Res pack smoothly?
I have a P4 2.4Ghz w/1.5GB ram, and am considering changing over to it.
Is it enough, or should I stay with the normal game setup?

I used it. I have a dual core Intel Mac, 2 gigs of memory, and one of the good vid cards they offered. Honestly, I don't notice any difference without it. I have sliders maxed and finest resolution.

I have a 3.2 single, with 3 gigs of ram and a x850 video card. I get a small hit, 5 fps, a bit more in furballs with the hi rez pack.
I stick with the 512 texture tho, and bumped my antialisen up to 4X and it runs better FPS, and looks about the same. About the only time you really notice the extra eye candy is when your looking out your plane and you see your wing.

shouldnt be a problem for me fugi, 50% of the time i look out my aircraft i no longer have a damn wing.

Fugitive: Hires textures are 1024 texture size, so if you set textures to 512, you are not seeing hires textures.
apcampbell: you can try hires. If you have trouble after installing then, just revert to 512 texture size. There is no need to uninstall them.

I know that Rolex, I was just pointing out that I went back to 512s and bumped up the antialising and it looks just as good as the 1024s, but with better FRs
