Title: Spitfire XVI landing bug
Post by: Yossarian on February 15, 2008, 02:35:53 PM
Hi, several times now in the MA I've been about to land in a Spit XVI, and the screen has suddenly gone black on me, the last sound(s) that were playing begin to loop constantly, until I finally get an error message saying that "Aces High has encountered a problem and needs 2 close.  Sorry for any inconvenience...etc etc."

I haven't caught a film of this yet, but I'm going to film the (few) future Spitfire XVI sorties I do.

Please help!!

Custom sounds, perhaps either the wheel sounds, the brake sounds, the ground dust sounds, or the flaps sounds.

Try removing your sound pack (move it elsewhere) and see if that fixes it.

Ok, I'll do that now.

Please note that this has happened (perhaps always?) before I land - as in before my wheels are down and whilst I'm still turning onto approach.

Thanks for the quick reply btw.

It usually happens when you put the flaps down right?

Sorry, but I can't remember exactly when it's happened to me.  I have a rather irregular landing style, but I know that this has happened at least once when I was trying to land kills.  Also, I think that at some point I might have had this problem before I lowered either my flaps or gear.

I tried a Spitfire XVI sortie last night, and had no problems.

Having same problems landing in the spitXVI.  It's the lowering of the flaps is when I get discoed.

choker, do you have a custom sound pack, or are you just using the default sounds?

I had the same problem.  It is the flap sound that is doing it.   Delete the flap sound from your Spit XVI folder and the problem should go away.
