Title: Transferring AH to a new computer
Post by: waystin2 on February 15, 2008, 03:50:56 PM
Hello All,

I have a new computer on the way:D, and will need to transfer AH over.  Is it as simple as backing up the entire HTC folder, and reloading it back into the Programs folder in Windows?  Note-both machines are running Windows XP Home edition.  Please advise...

Nope, you'd need to install it on your new machine. Suggest taking a backup of your settings, and once installed on your new machine, slap em into the folder in the same place.

Hope this helps,

i just did this last night.  Backup all your folders in your AH folder, skins settings sounds etc... So you will already have the stuff you have now.  Install the game and hires pack the replace the new folders in the AH folder on your new pc.  That way you will keep everything you already have.
Everything worked just fine when I finished and I had all my maps and skins and stuff from my old pc.
Hope that helps

Virtually any program will always need to be re-installed as it has to write new registry keys.
