Title: Taking hangar queen to a new level
Post by: Motherland on February 16, 2008, 10:38:29 PM
I find it odd that with other people wanting things like Panthers and Rocket Propelled La7's, Not to mention the ever-present B29, that the majority of planes I want are very early model planes... some preceding the war. Like the He-111. Is it newer or better than our current planes? Hardly. Is it sexy and would I like to fly it? Definately.
But, it doesnt end there. As much as I want an He-111, I want a Bf 109.... Dora. The version that served in the Spanish Civil War. 4 MG17's (7.9MM Mauser). It also had a Junkers Jumo 210D engine instead of the DB600's of the later 109's.
You think it ends there? Well, your wrong. Almost as much as a 109D or He111, I would like to fly the Ar 68- the biplane that was the main aircraft of the Luftwaffe from Hitler's rise to power to its replacement by the 109. Armament? 2x MG17's. One heavy hitting aircraft.

Love'em all.. I am also a fan of early war planesets even though Id get shot down in them 90% of the time I find it a nice challenge to fly them vs the regular planes we see in the LWMAs. And the He-111 is top in my list along with an early B series stuka and Ceaser 09. Dont get me started on early war brit planes along with more Italian planes (early and mid) Keep'em comin Motherland :)

I'd rather see biplanes that actually fought in WWII, such as the CR.42, Gladiator Mk I and I-153.

Was the Slopwith Camel a pretty good world war 2 fighter?

The Camel didn't fight in WWII.

So no, it wasn't.

If that's a typo for WWI then well, it was really good, but not the best. Other fighters were beginning to overshadow it by 1918.

An early planeset with those Karnak mentioned (I-153, I-16, CR42 and Gladiator) is probably a loooong way ahead, judging from the current pace.
You'd practically need all of them, and some more to make it proper anyway. Swordfish, PZL-11, Early Stuka, 109D.....Henchel...
I-16 is my vote, for it saw a lot of use from early on, and can be spread across many models.
And then, don't forget many others ready in '39 and used in '40, - D520, the Fokkers, the Brewster, etc etc.

Have faith though, HT has made a bipe simulator before ;)

Agreed.

CR.42 is a must.

I 15 when the developers get bored.
