like i said, how do you go to external view in viehicle?
-
You cannot.
External view is available for:
- fighters (while on the ground only)
- bombers
- some attack aircraft where the crew member could help spot for the pilot. (The mossie navigator could not help spot for the pilot due to his low seat position)
- field and ships gunner
- tower
-
You can only have external views on all plane/gvs in the TA, and DA (not sure if that was changed yet or not).

Actually it is more basic than that. Fighters don't get external and bombers do. Thus the Bf110 does not and the Il-2 does, despite very similar crew positioning. In reality I know of many occasions where the Mossie's navigator turned himself full around to watch behind the Mossie.
Vehicles do not as it was being exploited to look over terrain features.

Il-2 is a Bomber/Attack aircraft. 110s and Mossies are Fighter/Attack. That is the difference.
I think the Navigator unbuckling and turning around while on his knees on his seat to raise up enough to look back would have been very rare. There were too many things to kick in the cockpit during this kind of maneuver.

They didn't have to unbuckle to look behind them like thta.
