Nope

Good.
Now can we end this silly ban on Cigars now?
-
Silly embargo/blockade whatever period.
Has to be the least effective one in history imo and should have been ended decades ago.

Agreed.
Funny thing about embargos.
They only tend to work well when everyone co operates
-
Yup, but even then i doubt it would have had that much effect as long as the soviets helped anyway. As far as i know Cuba has all the natural resources need to sustain itself besides the soviet arms that is.
-
Yeah I doubt this will make any difference over there, his brother will most likely take over and he'll just keep the country under the same oppressive regime.
-
Kinda makes you wonder why the US didnt liberate the poor and oppressed people of Cuba a long time ago. Its really a short hop compared to other oppressed people stuck in the middle of the middle east ;)
oh boy.. the lids on those cans of worms are really not that hard to open :D
sorry

Ahh if they never grew tired enough of Castro to do anything about him, why would they with his brother?

Ok, thats fantasy, not the real world. When his brother takes over things will more then likely stay the same until he steps down or dies.

at the risk of making another Godfather analogy ...RFK was JFK's "Tom Hagen" or Consigliori. his pit bull if you will...or even if you will not.
-
JFK had more influence on the policies and U.S involvement in regards to Cuba then RFK ever had.
-
I don't recall that RFK was ever the CIC of the Military of the USA. As such he never had the power to make the decisions rearding things like the bay of pigs or Cuba in general.

Exactly, RFK was only the Attorney General, when it came to Cuba JFK was the one making the decisions because he was the man in charge.

We did. You will find them in Dade county. :)

The reason that is is because back in 1980 Castro let 125,000 Cubans leave the country and they all headed for Florida, the majority of them were the undesirables like criminals and mental patients. He unloaded all the problem people in Cuba on us.

Ok then, explain yourself instead of just saying my thinking is flawed, state your thinking behind your statement.

they operated as one....and RFK was the pit bull...the bad cop..whether that meant taking care of the mafia....taking care of marylin monroe....McCarthy, MLK, Hoover, or taking care of cuba... RFK was the power behind the throne...and the conduit to the CIA to keep Jack kennedy clean. he was the real fighter of the two.. it's common knowledge actually. RFK cleaned up the messes...the guy was an animal.
He was Harvey Keitel in pulp fiction.
-
He's been dead for a while... He's still controlling from the grave.
This is a good day though, hope to see some good things come of this.
-
ZetaNine, go here and read this about it.

Huh:huh
Also lemme guess, you don't believe Oswald killed JFK himself do you?
-
of course I do.
my sole and exclusive point is that you are uneducated with regard to the life and times of RFK...that's not a slam....it just seems you do not understand their relationship.
google:
RFK - bad cop
RFK - pit bull
RFK - mafia
RFK - marylin monroe
RFK - mcCarthy
RFK - mlk
RFK - hoover
RFK - bay of pigs
dude was an animal...and has my respect...
-
The point I've been making is that JFK had more of an impact on the way we deal with Cuba then RFK did, and I think you'd be hard pressed to find people to agree with you on that.
Atleast your not one of those loons that thinks there was a huge conspiracy to kill JFK.
-

not true.
they were not mutually exclusive...I really don't think you understand that...or RFK's role....and I hope in time...you research things a little deeper......it was a fascinating relationship...
-
Zeta, it was JFK that gave the direct orders to hold back half of the cuban force, and renig on promises of ANY american support.

"any" american support? I believe we sent unmarked american aircraft.
